Hi Friends,

I was very glad to find this forum.

Last month I published an article featuring the Erickson's method of rapid induction, by doing a surprising Hypnotic Handshake.

Let me know what you think - The Hypnotic Handshake (http://www.nlpweekly.com/index.php?p=35)

Happy Holidays!

hey cool site..
i was just watching some neuro hypnotic repatterning introduction videos where richard bandler says that he created that technique.. he just wanted to give him credit for something he didn't do since everybody gave milton so much credit for what he was doing or something along the lines like that.. and milton couldn't do it cause he couldn`t lift his right arm... anybody know more about that ?

Erickson's own research papers prove that he was the first to use this technique. Only near the end of his life he was paralized in his left hand. Bandler might have meant that he modeled erickson.

nah he didn't.. letme quote him:

"The first thing I wanna do is teach you what is called the handshake interrupt... it's really quick.. and it's really easy.. and.. i don't know why it works but it does.. ah I just started doing them because ah.. it was kinda like a martial arts move... milton once picked somebody's hand up and began to touch them ambiguously.. and when he let go.. their hand just stayed there.. and i thought we could do that faster... to hell with this fooling around... because people have well except in japan.. there you'll have to do the headbutt.." etc..

he said the stuff i said too.. didn't find it that fast though...

well.. maybe he was just "fooling around" himself while he was speaking or whatever .. dunno doesn't really matter anyway.. does it ?

Schlomo, some great articles. Any chance you get a mailing list up and running? My problem is that there are a lot of great sites on the net, I bookmark them and don't really visit them too often. If your site publishes a new article every week, it would be great to get an email notification - if I get an email notification, I get reminded to revisit and know there will be something new (yes, selfish, I know, but hey....). Thanks anyway, like the site.

What specifically is it that you are asking for BoJong?

Your questions have been asked and answered in a way that suggested you phrase your question in a manner that might help you get the answer you want.

Do you mean like pass the bong, or to relate the ancedote, or to explain how to do this?

Why not try the search engine on this site to see where it has been discussed many times?

Whilst being taught handshake induction in a group I asked my tutor, a very experienced and research active hypnotherapist, to show me again how it was done in terms of physical movement, close up. She proceeded to demonstrate by performing it on me. I was trying to observe but found it very difficult not to go into trance as I didn't want to - I wanted to observe the pattern. As a result, I was sort of bumping along the surface of trance and not really able to observe as well as I would have liked. I think it is a lovely induction, provided you want to be hypnotised. I still need practise but have accidentally done it to people a few times now.

Pattern interrupt is m a r v e l l o u s for fast hypnosis.

Hi all,

I was wondering (after reading Shlomo's article) if anyone has ideas for a more subtle handshake interupt, for covert persuasion use etc.

Something less obvious than the technique Shlomo describes would be wonderful. Perhaps a subtle interupt wouldn't be as effective, but useful nonetheless.

PS Shlomo, ill surely sign up for the mailing list, it sounds great:)

Hey Pdrive, I just saw your question...

basically, the whole point of the handshake is to cause a shock... so a more subtle won't do much benefit.

Perhaps you want a form of a handshake to help in negotiation.. well, just watch Donald Trump when he shakes hands with an associate - it's firm, he looks directly in the eyes of that person and he's the first to move the hand (shake it) and release the grip. That's one-up-manship in the most subtle way.

don't do that on dates, though... :-)

Yes this method is good i have seen it done but never used it, as it can freak some people out when used upon them,, personally i prefer the hand press,
Has anyone else used this??

:( sorry for being an idiot again guys, but i dont understand the way you move your hands in the cuped part and moving them an inch and all that. I also dont understand what first words are the most important to get them to enter a trance
