I am considering have hynotherapy treatment for some problems and was wondering if anyone could give me a description of how it feels. Is it something Lucid Dreaming where you know you are asleep and can bend the dreams to an extent?

Hypnosis is hypnosis, and like nothing else.

Imaginos,
Terry's answer is most lucid. :)

Hypnosis is not like lucid dreaming in any way, unless the hypnotist gives you a suggestion of lucid dreaming. ;)
For starters, I invite you to read my FAQ :)
Hi, Imaginos.
I realize you may consider the replies to your question somewhat non-replies and rather flippant. However, I want to assure you that they are 100% accurate.
You see, you may not be aware of it, but your simple question, "What does hypnosis feel like," has two hidden assumptions, both of which are false. These assumptions are:
1) hypnosis feels like something and
2) most people will experience it the same way.
In fact, for some people hypnosis will have no special feeling at all. Other people may have a subjective sensation, but those sensations may differ from person to person.
But rather than try to describe what it feels like for me (which may not relate to what anyone else thinks it feels like), let me give you a simple project so you can see what hypnosis feels like to you. Ready?
Close your eyes, count silently to ten and then open your eyes and scroll down.

For you, that's what hypnosis feels like.
