Hi all,

I have started looking into clinical hypnotherapy and it is my understanding that this is now regulated by most states. I've tried to find North Carolina's state regulations regarding this, but I can't find the info anywhere online and don't really know who to call to get it. Does anyone know how to obtain this information or which department to call to get it? I know the regulations will vary from state to state, but is there a certain department that controls this? Thanks!

Hi, Spinning! The NGH (National Guild of Hypnotists) provides a font of information. If you haven't joined yet, you should! :)

http://www.ngh.net/ On the home page, use the pull down menu "Legislation" and then "State Law Guide." It appears North Carolina IS a regulated state.

Your teachers/trainers also should be able to guide you in this. In a vacuum, I'd just start phoning the state, and making inquiries. I'd start with the Dept. of Health and Human Services and call their health service regulation department.

Some states only require being 'registered'.
others require hundreds of class hours.
Some won't let you use the word 'Clinical' without a Masters degree.

I like your screenname! :) Is it about hypnowheels or this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T97f2kBzOQ Or something else?

(I keep watching this video and I keep laughing...the face is so incongruent with the lyrics. "ya got no money, and ya got no home...." Have you ever seen a more jovial, happy face, eyes screwed up in pleasure, than when he's singing that??? I think he's reacting to the pleasure of performing, and not "feeling" the song lyrics.)

^^haha! I see what you mean about the video. He looks too happy to be singing about being so broke lol! Actually when I was thinking of a screen name, I thought of that because it's always what comes to mind when I think of hypnosis (old movies lol) and because I feel like that's where my life is right now...spinning my wheels and getting nowhere! I'm trying really hard to change that though.

You are! (Changing that.) Have you had any trainings yet? Are you learning NLP, too? One of the cool byproducts, you stop "trying" and you start doing, flying, and it's a whole heck of a lot more fun.

Hi Connie,

Who is to say that the hamster on the wheel isn't as powerful as
the other one? :) ;) Simple Guy, who enjoys the doing of physical
activity and finds it a whole lot of fun.

Good point! :) I was playing off of Spinning's words, he described it as the problem state. "spinning my wheels and getting nowhere." Hamster in a wheel is my vision of how that might look. Karate kid hamster looks like he's got some confidence and is feeling it! :) I was looking for a superman hamster flying in a cape, but, surprisingly to me, I couldn't find a pic of that on the internet!

I spent some time today on the treadmill at the gym, so I certainly agree that you can have power without going somewhere new.

Hi Connie,

I was at the gym yesterday on the treadmill and a humorous
picture occured to me: One hamster is talking to another,
saying, "they do it for fun" in front of a cage containing a
human on a treadmill. :) I had a hamster as a kid and he
loved his wheel.
