Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself and say Hello. I have a story about how I became interested in NLP ( I am trying to keep it short and to the point) please read and tell me what you think? I am 32 and just started to dabb in self help books by reading a Book "Think and grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. I alway's thought these books were bullcrap until I read this book. (it has really helped me) My wife has been reading books also, she went to a LandMark forum last month she really enjoyed it. Anway's my wife stumbled on NLP by her boss who gave her a book and audio tapes to read by Matthew Ferry. He told her to read and listen to the tapes before the next LandMark class she will attend. We were on our way to meet some new Neighbors from Canada for dinner and put in Matthew Ferry's Audio Tape to listen to. He mentioned in his audio tapes how to use NLP to get more sales, and better yourself. I thought to myself I really want to learn how to do this, it really struck my interest and I was going to go home and do research on what he mentioned in his audio tapes how to use NLP to get more sales and better yourself, I really got into this and could not wait to get home. We arrived at dinner met our guest and sat down, and started talking. We were talking when the subject came up about sales, my wife asked one of our new friends if he knew anything about NLP. Well I could not belive what I heard next, he said he was a NLP trainer and practioner, he taught students all about NLP ect. He started to explaine about it and gave us examples about it ect. So I asked him what is the best way to learn about NLP, he said start with books by Richard Bandler, and explore the internet, find your own path is what he said. (I would have him teach me but he lives in Canada just owns the house next door to visit for Golf and vacation) So I am like this must be faith, or a sign that this is what I need to learn to better myself and my business skills. I have been searching the internet on how to learn NLP, but find it very confusing. From what I have read it started out by John Grinder and has gone off into all kinds of different directions. What I want to know is what is the best way to learn about it? I love to read, and watch DVD, listen to Audio tapes, this is how I want to start can you give me a starting point? I want to help myself in my speaking ability, in business and self help ( I am a quite person and want to be able to speak to people without fear) and healing the body. I just need a starting point on how to start learing NLP it is such a broad subject. So are books by Richard Bandler a good starting point? Are there any other great Web sites also? Please Help.... I really have a burning desire to learn all I can on this subject.

Skip has posted a lovely list of NLP books for you to buy and read. About everything is available on Amazon except for those lovelies that are out of print and for them you will pay. Actually, the books make a lot more sense AFTER NLP training. NLP is to be experienced.

B&G went their own ways. Your point is?

Get into a training and take your wife with you. Yes, a wee bit expensive but you will leave with skills that will last you a lifetime.

Hi

welcome :)

Books will teach you what NLP is about.
But it's like wood carving. hard to learn well from a book.

My booklist links to Skips.
So does my Hypnosis FAQ

cheers-

Thank you for your comments re: NLP and I'm sure Drs. Bandler and Grinder thank you for the links to their books. We do have a policy on this Forum, however, and that is that we allow NO LINKS TO COMMERCIAL SITES. B&G sell enough books without you selling for them. Thank you for your cooperation. Pood

Snowwolf, I confess I find your story both incredible and unbelievable, I really do.....
You say you are a saleman,
You further say you have a burning desire to learn something that will improve both your life and your business
So far so good, but when you proceed to inform us that a neighbour of yours "who is an NLP trainer", told you to search the internet and read books in order to master this skill, that is where I part company with the incredible, and proceed to the unbelievable......
Need I say more? I smell something fishy, and the smell is coming from either you or your neighbour, I know whom I choose to blame.....

Did you read my post? Our Wolf poster was attempting to make commercial links to a book selling site where our Wolf poster gets a commish or may even own the site. Sneeky links too - not the kind the Moderators usually look for. I was just nosey and wanted to know why in Heaven's name Richard Bandler was underlined -- it took me directly to a commercial site and that site did not belong to Richard Bandler.
Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame on these people!!!!

We usually don't have problems with people mentioning where to buy books like Amazon, etc. but we don't need the links here. If one can't figure out how to find Amazon, then one should not be on the net IMHO! Pood :(
