It was at dinner with friends, when one of them said, hearing about how something was "getting my goat": "Why don't you hypnotize yourself?" Those with skills, myself among them, sometimes forget to use the sklls we have. It was a helpful reminder, applicable to the situation. Anyone else need this reminder? :)

Could be a good idea but in this case I believe there is an underlying problem that needs to be aired, but the holder is resisistant to doing so for whatever reason. As one who speaks his mind regardless of what others may think of me, I do understand the need to get things out of the system before they become damaging.
I just hope that two respected friends can come to an accomodation, and that any problem that is left will be eradicated by your suggestion, or by being brought out into the open.
Gotta confess though, I would love to know the addy of that argumentative web site, bet I would have fun visiting it...:D :D Oh yes, at the risk of offending, I have to express the wish that silly posts could be removed as easily as the porn ones. I see no benifit to anyone in allowing children to believe they can come here and learn from us when they are still in diapers when it comes to common sense and ethics... This has always been a source of annoyance to me. Better have fewer posts than silly ones that degrade us in the eyes of adults who visit. My list of ignores is growning daily....

Terry,

I agree with you about the two friends and realized that it could be taken
as reference to them. Thought I'd post it regardless, though, because
sometimes we all forget to see and use the tools we have, even when they
are hiding in plain sight. So, the reminder was more despite the smoke
burning elsewhere than an attempt to put out a fire. I wonder how
many of our lurkers have training in the arts discussed here and hoped
some of them could benefit by a reminder also. By the way, not airing
stuff is a great way to eventually suffocate by some of it. I met a
fellow that used self-hypnosis to his disadvantage for many years to
do just that. He was a mess.

Yup, but both are skilled firemen, so it is up to them to decide the outcome.
I intend to ignore it and let it play out according to what each of them decides, just so long as the fire is eventually put out...
