Hello,

I've been reading posts at this forum for a while but I only recently registered. Hi everyone! I've been into hypnosis as a hobby since this summer, and I have to say just trying to keep my beliefs open to change has changed my life a lot. I really want to explore the possibilities of going into trance though, and the changes I could make through the use of somnambulism, but I just can't seem to get there. Do I just need to practice more? Do I need to pay a professional hypnotist to help me get there the first time? I'm a poor college student but I love a good hypnosis book, so if anyone has any indepth self-hypnosis book recommendations I would be immensely grateful. I've got a pretty good base understanding of hypnosis, and I have helped other people get into the somnambulistic state. Also, is it possible to use self-hypnosis to determine the unconscious cause of a problem (something like a regression) rather than just treat a symptom?

thanks!,
kosmic

Hello and welcome!

It's much easier if someone else leads you to somnambulism as opposed to trying on your own.
You could find someone to work with and learn together (cheaper than the 'professional')

Yes, it's possible to uncover problem causes by self hypnosis.
But sometimes the mind is protective and doesn't want you to consciously know.

merlin,

i knew i could count on a reply from you! :) are there any good self-hypnosis books that you know of that goes into the kind stuff i talked about earlier? also i recently just sprained my ankle pretty badly (i spend a lot of my day training, so its quite hard on me), do you think this is an area hypnosis can help with? lastly, my roommate has warts on his hands, and i was recently told that a lot of studies show hypnosis is the best method for wart removal. Have you found this to be the case, and if so, do you have any particular methods/techniques or places i could read for the removal of warts?

Some hypnosis trainings cover this.
I don't know a good book for it tho :(

if you find one, please share.

Hi kosmic

I recommend "Self-Hypnosis" by Dr. Brian M. Alman & Dr. Peter Lambrou

How do you know whether or not you get there? What is the evidence you are looking for in your trance?

Yes, you can find the cause or genesis of a problem, but that is not necessarily synonomous with changing/healing.
