Hi there.
I am totally new here, both to the forums and NLP overall. There are so many NLP books available, that I really don't know where to begin.
Therefore I wanted to know if there was a simple-read, practical hands-on book for learning the absolute basic techniques of NLP that you gurus out there might recommend. Something like a "NLP for dummies" (please don't get upset, it was only meant as an example without any intention to insult anyone).
Thanks in advance.

first book i bought was 'finding true magic' cant remember by whom, but it covered all the basics really well.... or 'hypnosis for dummies' was pretty good if your after a general overview of hypnosis and how it works
i'm a begginer as well and they are the first 2 i read

Also "NLP for dummies" out out there, although I started with;
Teach Yourself NLP by Steve Bavister and Amanda Vickers -
which was a little too short to be totally informative.
Then
NLP The New Technology of Achievement by Steve Andreas and Charles Faulkner + The NLP Comprehensive Training Team
Which was a very good introduction for me.
Then I did
NLP in 21 Days by Harry Alder and Beryl Heather
Which was actually quite annoying, due to the Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 Structure. Skipping around new terminology like a frog on a hot-plate.
then I went through some background stuff;
Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson, M.D. Volumes I and II by John Grinder, Judith Delozier, & Richard Bandler
Which is very interesting and so am currently re-reading while I wait for my 'book man' to find me;
NLP, Trance Formations, The Structure of Magic 1 & 2 and some other - less related work.
then, I will feel like I have an idea of what I'm talking about..

Heh, so there actually IS a "NLP for dummies" book then? How practical, I just made the title up, without knowing that such a book actually existed. I should have searched for it before posting, sorry. :p

Hi. Not frequenting this forum too much at the moment, but I'd just like to share that I got the "NLP for dummies" book some weeks ago, and I am enjoying it a lot. Really informative, good layout, and easy to read.
So I would definitly recommend as the first source of information for other NLP newbies such as myself.
