ive just become a member and wanted to say hi to everyone!
found this site a couple of days ago and am really excited about it, its really helpful. since reading practically everything on here my mind has expanded and ive begun researching all sorts of different topics!
i live in the southwest, uk, and am in my last 2 months of my diploma in hypnotherapy. i love everything to do with hypnotherapy and psychology and all the other holistic therapys including flower remedies and crystals. i hope to set my own business up at the start of next year. The more i learn the more i realise that ive got alot to learn, so any help or advice would be greatly apreciated.
In the near future i hope to learn more about nlp. ive already done courses on psychology, counselling skills and kinesiology. I love terrance watts and his book on warrior, settler and nomads, his web site is fab too www.hypnosense.com (http://www.hypnosense.com),
hope to chat with you all soon

whay do people post replys like this, why? wot have i said that is wrong? i was kind, friendly, open, i really dont get it?
Pinktrance,
You havent done anything wrong.
Some people like to skoff or poke fun at "wide eyed enthuiasm", and I wonder if it is because they have never experienced it themselves, or if they have just forgotten what it is like, because it has been so long.
If I had to guess, I would say that some of the things you mentioned are outside of someones belief system, and that is their best way of responding to those type of things.
Other people respond to those type of things differently, as you will see.
Welcome to the group, and after a bit of time reading and participating, it will be clear to you, who you might be interested in giving credence to, and how much interest to devote to "drive by drivel".

Hello and welcome!
This is an open forum. Anyone can answer.
There are even children here. They post too.
They post puzzling and even obnoxious posts at times.
But, this forum is open.
I welcome you!
I'm glad you're here.
Please don't be discouraged :)

As one who has long passed through childhood, and is now in his second one, I found you post most amusing, though I chose not to reply at once......
I have seen, and still remember, the excitment of children when they discovered something new..Funny, there are so many things I have long forgotten....
Interest in the esoteric is often put down by those who feel it demeans the art of hypnosis to be offered alongside such things a flower therapy, and crystals. I can understand that, but rudeness is never acceptable, and I apologise on behalf of those whom you will please note, were unregistered guests, and not regular members of this board....We the regulars might at times put someone down for being foolish, and attempting to promote themselves beyond their true capabilities, but it is unlikely that we will be rude to someone who's only "crime" is to be over enthusiastic. Keep the enthusiasm as long as you can, it is likely to rub off on others, and get them happy and excited. A much better thing to do, that put someone down for being happy. Terry

Hi Pinktrance, um that guy on that other site you mentioned.... he really looks like a hypnotist, eh? woooo - I think he may be an archetype, or something... :) ....some interesting tools there though - any you recommend (thought the subliminal power one looked pretty interesting, for example).

Worry thyself not, o pink one.
It sometimes seems that all of life passes through this hypno etc bboard.
Some stay for years, others breeze through in an instant.
Some impart wisdom, some not.
As per what could be thought of as an NLP principle - just take what's useful for yourself personally, and discard the rest.

Welcome Pink Trance! With a handle like that you were fortunate that your were not roasted heavily, just a light grill I think.:) Terry must be getting sentimental!
When you first appear on a site like this it is perhaps not wise to put up a website link since this raises suspicion about your motives. I know Terry Watts personally and yes he is a a very good therapist but you will find a million heroes to worship as you progress through your career, until you come to the point where you realise that you are as good, or better. Unfortunately, after 30 years in the profession I still think Erickson was something special. And perhaps Dave Elman..and maybe..about another hundred or so plus my dog who is a master, but I know I'm better than the rest!;)
Good luck in your career, and keep the enthusiasm!

i like my handle, and i dont see why anyone should get a grilling, this is a great site with lots of really interesting people on. I like terrance watts and i dont have any motives behind saying that, i dont understand why anyone would think that i would ??? terrence watts does look a bit scarry dosent he jOnny, but i think his deepener with the fairground genre is second to none, his way of discovering personality types is so easy and precise also. Thanks for all the replys everyone ! :p :p
p.s my quote for today is:
"if you understand everything you must be misinformed"

Gee Jack, do you really think I am becoming sentimental? I sure hope not, who will take my place as the Don Cherry of hypnosis? Actually though you might be right, as of the tenth of this month, I became a GREAT grandfather, so now when I read a post such as that from Pinky, I imagine her as about the age of my grandaughter, so I guest that with sadness, I must resign myself the the scrapheap of time and admit that I no longer have to teeth to bite at the idiots (EG) and if you believe that I do have a bridge to sell..Terry

have a nightmare of an essay to complete this month, also have 25 hours practical and 3 case studys to catch up on, i really dont know how im gonna get it all done? course finishes in 2 months, then i need to find a supervisor to work with me?
i just wondered if you lot have have all trained in pretty much the same way? and do you all have supervisors/counselors? how long was your course? do you need to be a member of hypnotherapy society or whatever in your country?
the college i am training with seem to be very ethical and sorted, but i recently met a lady that had learnt, and was a practicing hypnotherapist after a weekend intensive course, and she proclamed to have been taught everything whilst in a hypnotic state????????

Well, you could claim to be an MD after a weekend course too.
Can't say I'd want to see a weekend warrior.
