Hi, im mix999 and i just started being interested in hypnosis.
i started doing magic tricks at the age of 10 and now im 13.
i found hypnosis really interesting and i really want to learn it.
i recently found a book called "mastering hypnosis" and read about half of it.
i tried a simple hypnotic induction on my friend and he went into the SMALLEST ever trance which did almost nothing.
im hoping this forum can help me learn more and educate me in the art of hypnotism. So where should i begin?
thanks

It's wonderful you have an interest in hypnosis. We do encourage reading too. You should probably wait until you are about 18 and then go to a live class with lots of practice on other students. You will be amazed at what you will be able to do.

Don't try to hypnotize your friends. If you cannot wait until you're 18 better hypnotize your teachers :D

Infection is gone. Chemo started last week. She feels sick now, but only physically, mentally she's very strong and confident.
Hi, Mix and welcome.
Unfortunately, we're not really a training site, and I would have strong doubts about any sites that claimed to be so.
You see, hypnosis is a skill. Skills are learned through training and practice, not through reading or through someone telling you something over the internet. In fact, if you read a lot of sites that claim to tell you how to hypnotize others, you may experience little success.
Now, let me explain why you didn't succeed with your friend. Well, actually, I can't tell you because I didn't see what you did! But I can tell you this much and I hope it will make sense. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. In reality, hypnotists don't "put people under." Rather they give guidance and a person simply follows the instructions and hypnotizes himself or herself.
Now my guess is that you didn't understand the technique presented in the book or that the method described is quite obsolete. However there is another matter here. In order for a person to choose to go into trance they have to trust you to lead them. Your friend may trust you as a friend, but does your friend trust you as a hypnotist? Does your friend see you as an expert hypnotist? My guess is no, and as a result, your friend didn't follow your instructions completely.
When you get a training, you work with people who don't know you. They only know that you are dedicated to the study of hypnosis and they can trust you because there is a teacher watching out near by.
So what's a guy like you to do? Well, first I would suggest reading all you can to learn about hypnosis. You will find books at the public library and the school library. Second, you introduced yourself as a magician, so I suppose you're interested in using hypnosis for a show. I've been a magician for longer than you've been alive, and I'll let you in on a secret: other magicians will be fascinated at new sleights, clever boxes, and gaffed coins. But your audience doesn't care about the techniques, they only care about the effect. To them it doesn't matter if you do hypnosis, only if it looks like you do hypnosis.
If you search the magic stores (and maybe eBay) you'll find relatively inexpensive books that will show you how to do tricks that look like hypnosis but require no skill with hypnosis at all.
Oh, and if you school offers them, you might want to take classes in public speaking, debate, or acting. They'll help you, too.
Keep up the good work. Keep up the drive and the energy. If you do, I bet you could become great!
Why did you read only half of the book?
My guess is that you wanted to try out what you had learned,
but what if the second half of the book contained the really
important info?
And what if the second half also told you how to get more than
the smallest ever trance? And what if reading other books told
you other stuff that really altered the way you thought about
hypnosis?
There are a million books out there and none of them will teach
you one tenth of what you will get from proper training when you
are older, but they are a good start. So you really have something
to look forward to.:)
And always remember that when you have the ability to help
someone to get into trance, although it can be fun, it is also
an awesome responsibility.

Usually family does not hypnotize family but you may wish to give some consideration to your sister. Boosting her immune system and removing many of the ill side effects of chemotherapy would be a wonderful treasure for her. I KNOW you can do it. Now the question becomes WOULD SHE ACCEPT YOUR HELP. If you don't know the exact things to say you can always PM me and I'll help you. Then you can have the fun of translating into German. Also keep telling her about me and how healthy I am and it's been 15 years now. This is something I have always done for free where I live. Also rape trauma is free as well as people with AIDS and veterans with PSTD. Hugs, Pood (a/k/a Kermit the frog)

First, learn hypnosis is not the same as trance.
