Hi everyone, I was wondering if you guys knew anything about the tapes and cd "Innertalk" sells for subconcious change. www.innertalk.com. Is this a scam? Or have any of you heard good things. If it is a scam would you have any idea of cds that are worth a shot? I'm looking for something for social anxiety/shyness. Thanks, any info you could give me would be great.

I have a post on shyness down in the NLP section and in there I stated how I've tried everything under the sun on how to deal with it but wasn't very successful. I've even tried the InnerTalk tapes. It's a scam ,bro. Don't fall for it. I also go to other forums and the people there have been scammed by them too. The only way it probably would have worked is if you placebo'd yourself into it but thanks to this post I've completly destroyed that chance :p :p .

At first I bought the a CD on confidence which didn't work so then I upgraded to OZO confidence which didn't work and I was thinking maybe I should try focusing on the tape that deals with shyness so I had already bought two and I was kicking myself so this time I took them on their offer for the 5cd pack (a great way for scammers to make tons of cash cus when you hear discount it feels like it triggers a ravenous voracious instinct that tells you to do it ;) ) I bought the shyness, have it all and some other lame ones that I tryed for about a month using it at least 8 hours a day. No luck so I sent back the 5 I bought since It was just barely under waranty and they managed to scam me on the first two tapes. Don't let it happen to you. Their government pattent is B.S. even though it is on the website. Bottom line : IT SUCKS!

Hope that helped

There's a very old saying in the UK, and possibly on this side of the pond also, "What's cheap is dear"....If you go for cheap, realise that you are most likely to get an inferior product. It you purchased a tape purely for relaxation, it might well give you results you would be pleased with, because no flexibility is required to practise relaxation. If however you look for help with a real problem such as shyness, it is unlikely that you will get good results, simply because each person is different, and reasons for the shyness differ also. A practitioner is flexible enough to find out the "why" of the problem and deal with it. A tape cannot. Terry.....

Thanks oddeye. Terry, the sad thing is that the tapes and cds aren't exactly cheap, so it leads you to believe that they might work.

Hello,

IMO there is no hard evidence that subliminal messaging works. The CDs you mention use subliminal messaging. Draw your own conclusion.

The idea of hemispheric balancing is not a new one, but it is not necessarily untrue. Again I think the whole area of subliminal suggestion and left/ right brain balancing deserves some decent, unbiased research.

Every person is unique individual. What works for one person may or may not work for another. That's why a hypnotherapist would do a pre-induction interview with a client to discover what the best way to work with a person is.

Any CD, therefore, is "worth a shot." It may or may not work for you. But how many CDs are you going to buy before you achieve your goals--1? 10?

Think of the money and time you would have wasted when a trip to a qualified hypnotherapist could quickly and easily help you to change your behavior.

I haven't listened to Inner Talk recordings, but I can tell you something that may be pretty much a common sense - if there's anything you are considering purchasing and you consider it a scam, and especially if it relates to hypnosis, just stay away from it. The reason for this is, your subconscious beliefs and expectations will effect whatever it is you're working on with hypnosis, so if you're expecting whatever it is that you may be using not to work - you'll make sure it doesn't work.

You'll get much better results with whatever and whosever products you may choose to explore if you begin with an open state of mind, such as "I wonder what will happen if I use this" and just allowing to happen whatever happens.

You should also know that you are impressing your subconscious mind with every thought you think - so if you get a recording that is intended to program you mind with let's say the suggestion "I am wealthy", for one hour a day, and then you spend the other 23 hours feeling ppor and broke - guess what you're impressing upon your subconscious mind. You'll always manifest in your life your PREDOMINANT thoughts - so while subliminal recordings can help you to get the results faster, you'll do much better if you also engage your conscious mind in the process and pay attention to whatever thoughts you let go through your mind throughout the day.

It is the state of CONGRUENCE between your conscious and subconscious mind that will bring you the fastest results. When they are at odds, it will take you that much longer - with or without subliminal recordings.

Best wishes,

Laura

I would have to agree with deeptrance now... I think that when it comes to products like these, it works diffrently with everyone.. find out for yourself. Also you must keep an open mind, I doubt it will work positively if your mind is looking for the 'scam'... I have tried the Stress and Anxiety CD and it has helped me so much... I downloaded it free from their website. There is a reason they offer Cancer CDS, Forgiveness CDS, and Grieving CDS for free.. They also have free mp3s on the website... thats where I downloaded the stress and anxiety music... Just wanted to leave my thoughts... I will be purchasing a cd soon, so it was important for me and my subconcious to respond to the negative thoughts with some positives...

Good Luck...

Hello Guest,

Laura is absolutely right. Much of hypnotherapy depends upon expectation. Conflict between conscious expectations and subconscious imperatives is the key to 99% of therapeutic work.

Since this topic was first posted I have received a free CD from InnerTalk called 'Forgiving & Letting Go' and tested it. Now for me it didn't have any effect, but that may be because of the conflict expressed above, or it may be that I have forgiven everybody I need to, or it may be that it simply didn't work. I'm also testing out some alphadynamics CDs designed for stress reduction and perhaps because they are more closely aligned with my belief systems I find them effective (on a preliminary basis, of course). I will be doing some more testing of these CDs with volunteers in '05 with my local university.

So, if anyone knows of any commercially available CDs which claim particular effects or resolutions I would be interested to hear about them for possible inclusion in the research. I'll post this separately as a request, too.

I have tried her ' Dispel Depression' track and it seems to really work.

However the technique she uses - supraliminal recording is not being offered by any other hypnotists so I was wondering is it same as subliminal or something altogheter different.
