I was talking to a NLPerson who works in sales the other day and we were exchanging stories about how to most effectively hand out a business card using NLP techniques. He was brilliant, by the way. He demonstrated how he finds the nonprefered spacial areas of the prospective client and puts the competitors there, and himself in the preferred position. It involved gestures with the business card and language and self-referencial gestures, too. Very smooth. And, of course, matching language to rep system, and anchoring positive states to himself. He then reports that everyone else in his company who also attended these meetings is stunned when the client likes HIM best and wants to only work with him. :D

one of the best bits of advice i have seen about handing out business cards came from a chinese marketing seminar. its common sense but the way you pysically present your card means a lot, as mentioned, and they advised us to hand the card over holding it lighty with two hands with the information facing them; to treat it as something special and draw attention to it. most people just say, "heres my card" and quickly shove it into the recievers hand.

ps. also to hold it at chest height as you present it.

If you really want to make an impression, I suggest using the magic trick named "Hot Leads" by Jim Pace. You open an elegant leather wallet, take out your business card, and it bursts into flames! You blow it out and give the card to someone. It is perfect, brand new, and not even singed.

Now that will create an impression :)

with the top NLP Trainers, that some have cards with very, very little information on them and they look VERY EXPENSIVE. It helps create the fact that I am expensive and I am excellent.

Connie,

You describe what is arguably the optimum way to present a business card to someone, and then ask for advice on how to do it.

Hummmmmmm

Skip, I'm just a sharing kind of girl. :D Actually, I would like to hear if others have cool tips and techniques as well.

Skip, on a side note: the man I was talking to above (the sales guy learning stage hypnosis with me) wanted to know of an excellent NLP trainer in your neck of the country. I gave him your name.

Hey Connie,

I don't suppose you'd be willing to elaborate on his techniques a bit? I'm very interested in how he does that.

Hi, RL. I thought my description was elaborate. :) Just follow his suggestions, step by step. I'm assuming you're already a student of NLP and understand the references made to anchoring and rep system, etc. If not, start there--learning NLP!

I agree that you wrote an accurate description of "how to".

I suppose I've thoroughly revealed myself as a novice by this point. I don't suppose you guys could direct me to any resources which I could learn these techniques from?

You will learn them at ANY GOOD NLP TRAINING. Interesting enough, the owner of this Forum just happens to teach it. Kewl, huh? ;)
