Hi everybody,

I am 35 and I have been working first as a part timer and after college full time, always in jobs chosen out of financial need.

I know that this sounds rediculus but for more than 20 years I cannot decide definetely on a career path.

Although I have tried few different jobs and I was able to manage them satisfactorily, after some time I get extremely bored and feel depressed. Probably my low self esteem lead me to jobs that do not offer much motivation except a standard salary.

At times various thoughts come to my mind, excite me and then when I come to the materealization phase I lose total interest or I feel they are too big for me and in the end I will burn out or will be bored after I have already invested a lot of effort and energy.

I am wasting my most creative years because of my inability to decide. Please help me. Is there any technique I could use?

Guest,

Career counseling is beyond the scope of this forum.

You may want to find a career counselor that could assist you to match your skills,
personality and interests to a particular career path.

The self-esteem issue that you mentioned is important to remedy. Finding
someone to assist you with this can also be invaluable to you.

Observe what you have done to date, and reflect.......You failed to sign in, indicating that we are just a passing phase in your life, which is true of course. You ask a question which is beyond anything we are prepared for, yet offer no supporting infomation to assist us in a sensible reply.......
You are in fact, wasting both your time and ours, and though it is your habit to waste your own time in order to procrastinate more, we are not happy about having our time wasted in this way.....
You are in posession of the most insidious desease known to man, PROCRASTINATION, and for this there is little hope, since all efforts start with the client or sufferer, and in your case, you will never get off the ground to help yourself due to the nature of your problem.......That is why I reffer to it as "Insidious" Terry
