Hi all,

Firstly I have been studying Hypnosis for about 14months now and feel confident to induce trance, I have succesfully hypnotised a number of friends and even had them doing stuff like thinking there are a Drill sergeant and one friend (who was a bit of a "tart") even did a pole dance for her partner.

Now I have just payed out for a course (awaiting to complete), and the main reason for my post.

I am now looking to get "volunteers" - and I am woundering if there is any laws, ehtical reasons why I could not offer to say "try" to stop people smoking or some other form of help. Believe me, I would try and stick to the simple things, another example is a friend of mine as asked if I could "help" her to stop biting her nails?

Is this a reasonable step to take to gain experience? As my usual subjects are now no further a challenge to put under and can be under in less than a minute.

I hope you can offer some much needed advise, until I obtain my diploma, and hopefully after ....

Thanking you.

Laws regarding the use of hypnosis vary from country to country, and State or Province also, so nobody can tell you about them unless they live were you do. As for ethics, we all had to start somewere, and most of us did volunteer work first, mostly because we didn't feel it fair to charge when we were so unskilled. However DO NOT "TRY" to help others stop smoking, it is unfair to them, and if you fail they may be convinced that it is the fault of hypnosis (G) What you must do is assist them to become ex smokers. The difference is all in the planning.........Plan well, and you are unlikely to fail, fail to plan, and you plan to fail Terry

Thank you for your feeback, I live in the UK - so anyone with knowledge of UK law or the areas I need to look into would be great.

Your mention on "NOT TRY" makes perfect sense, so I help people to become EX smokers .....

I will keep you up dated with my progress (and maybe ask for more help). A friend of mine is actually a Hypntherapist and is willing to teach me (for FREE) so this will also aid me to become skilled (along with qualified).

Thank you once again
