I had some past occurances in my life. A lot of childhood abuse and the death of my mother at 18. It took two years to truly get over my mother's death. It was very depressing and graphic as I was there the entire time until she left me. I'm 23 now and I was doing great until just recently. I've been having many intense nightmares including ones where there's been a lot of flashbacks of my mother's screams of pain and waking up either in tears or completely soaked in my sweat. Why this is happening now, I have no clue. I thought that it could be my GF that kind of resembles my mother's personality.
I really want to find an answer and the only thing I can think of is to have a doctor hypnotize me. Would this be the best idea or would it lead to something really bad? Can a certified Hypnotist record me? What would be the typical costs for a visit?
Thank you in advance, Nate

Nathan, is is likely, that your mind is attempting to cure itself via the flashbacks, and I would suggest you let it do the job for a time without any outside intervention. I think it quite likely that your own mind had decided to deal with a nasty situation after putting up with it for five years, and what you are now suffering from is what is called Catharsis ie, dealing with the trauma without losing the memories.......Yes it is possible that your memories have been stirred up by an outside source, but don't worry about that, just hope that the next flashback is less stressfull, and future ones ever less so. If this happens, I am right, and your mind is dealing very nicely with the problem without help, and eventually memories will be devoid of excessively sad feelings, just loving ones. Terry
