As many of you know, we have been inundated with spam recently. The moderators are doing their best to delete it, but it keeps coming. Sometimes there is even more spam that legitimate posts. We apologize for this problem.

I have just received (3/23/07) an email from the owner of this forum, Dr. Matt James.

He wrote that the upgrade to relive this problem is more extensive than he thought. As a result, he has had to hire the vendor of the software to install an upgrade. He is covering the expense, and IMO, should be thanked.

The upgrade is currently being scheduled. As a result,

at some time in the next few weeks
you may discover that these forums will be
temporarily
down for 24 hours or more

while the upgrade is taking place. Please do not be concerned about this. We aren't going anywhere. We're doing this to better serve the entire community.

When we go off-line temporarily, why not contact a friend and tell them about our forums? The more people participating the better!

Thank you, Dr. Matt! And thank you to our mods, also, for their herculean perseverance in dealing with the problem up til now.

I was offline for while and when I just logged in I was surprised about these spam messages. It must be annoying for you to waste your time with deleting the spam.

It is much appreciated that the time and expense is being absorbed to get rid of these pests.

Thank you :)

Every time I see all the spam I keep thinking about the mods and that they have to clean it up, thanks guys for all the hard work:)!!!!

And thanks to Dr. James for caring enough to change the situation :).

Actually, people are paid to register on forums and leave messages. While software upgrading will remove automated spam, "normal" messages can only be deleted manually.
