I just got back from my first hypnosis session (since this is my first session, it was only a relaxing and self esteem one, next week I will work on my fears etc.) and I have to say it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I went really deep and relaxed. This is a total different state of consciousness compared to sleep.
I had to visualise a star above my head and taking me to the universe, I felt calm. My visualisation is gradually improving, I noticed that my body started to itch, this is normal. The conscious mind is saying "What is going on?, I'm in control here not the subconscious". hehe.
I'm thinking of perusing this into a career to become an hypnotist. My hypnotherapist also said some people either have it or not. It's like a gift, she has seen this from her own experience and she said that I probably have the gift. I know I have to have a care for people in this field, which I already do.
I noticed that as soon as I woke up I felt this rush of energy going through my body for a few seconds and it felt great :).
I still feel calm and positive writing this now. :)
I have another appointment next week.
Regards,
Narinder :)

Hi Narinder,
Glad to hear you had such a good experience.
You'll see it said many times on this forum - anyone can learn to hypnotise, but the skill is in what you do after.
Caring for others IMO is an attitude rather than a gift. If you have that attitude you will do well.
Take some training so you know, books will only teach you so much.

maybe you are just gifted with the attitude.... a talent for caring ... like Florence Nightingale ....:)
Or is the gift elsewhere? I wonder what talents you have to have to be particularly 'gifted'... Perhaps - (for example) the more receptive you can be to the subtleties of peoples reactions the better equiped you will be to have influence over them... and... the more receptive you are to genuinely demanding an understanding of their 1st person point of view, the better enabled you will be able to help them from first understanding their situation.... also seems you would need to be able to be gaining trust and confidences quickly, along with communicating well at a variety of different levels (whatever that means - heh, heh:D) - maybe your hypnotist thinks you are gifted with natural tendencies for things like these? .... or... some other things like that?? .... or maybe these are not part of the gift?? Hmm, now I am interested in the GIFT......

I had my second hypnosis session today and I went really deep I went to another world. I was self aware, and my visualisation is improving. She asked me what keyword would you like, really she meant what do you love. I couldn't think of anything, she suggested "ENERGY" as my keyword, because she can feel alot of energy around me. She has used energy as my keyword. Which means everytime I want to go back to that deep hypnotic state I just think and say the world "ENERGY" and I'm back there instantly.
As I stated in my first session last week that I felt an energy rush towards the end, this time I felt it more throughout the session and at the end aswell. Also, the pitch and level of her voice went up and down like a frequency which just means the consciousness is altering.
She made me visualise a 20 step staircase and as I took each step I went deeper and deeper. Then she said when I get down to the bottom final step that there will be a door, she said open it up and think your in a theatre, the colour of the walls, seats and curtains is black. Then think that the curtains of the screen slowly opens up and there will be a word saying "ENERGY". I managed to visualise this quite well. I noticed that my heart starting beating a little fast and I got very warm. So, I said to myself calm down and relax and it worked.
Regarding the itchiness feeling, I did get that again. However, I have said to myself to observe and concentrate of what is going on. I also noticed that at the time of the voice going up and down, just before that happens I get a deep heartbeat.
Towards the end, I felt like my eyes went heavy and got the same feeling just before I slip into sleep at night. I could feel myself getting deeper and deeper. When I woke up I felt the energy rush in my body, but not as fast as my first session. I felt pure bliss and calm, also I felt warm, but it was a nice loving warm feeling, not the warm feeling you get when your sweaty.
My hypnotherapist said it's a pleasure to work with me and she believes that I can make a good hypnotherapist, she reckons I have been around for thousands of years so the past life regression session will be very interesting indeed. She says that I have a good positive vibe which put a smile on my face. :)
Next week should be interesting...

That sounded like a cool session.... I wonder a bit about the bit about being around for a long time and past life regression.... Not that I'm saying there has been no 'past life' - just wondering is this something you already believe in? As in, is it a religious tennet you deeply affiliate with? If not I just wonder why your therapist would be interested in involving you in some complex metaphysical claims? If it is not a part of your everyday belief set the very notion of past life regression seems (to me) to pressuppose you had one... and how is that to be established, in particular, if it is not part of your cultural background/personal history (this life:) ).... Still the session will indeed be an interesting one.... I look forward to hearing about your next experience.... good to be able to read a diary of these kind of events... and followed the visual account of your session .... enjoyed it....
Cheers

Thanks mate, well I'm open minded in past life regression. Belief in reincarnation is not necessary to achieve postive results.

Session 3 – 10/08/04
Today was a pleasant and relaxed hypnosis session. We worked on building my confidence. I felt the same deepness as last week. My hypnotherapist told me to focus on the ticking sound of a clock and she gave me a cd labelled ‘ticking clock’ so that I can imagine that there is a clock sound in the background and go deeper relax with it.

Belief in reincarnation is not necessary to achieve postive results.
True enough I guess..... seems PLG will be reaching out to some aspect of a persons psychology, which even if not described accurately as a 'past life' will have something to offer somehow - or is any transformational power involved in this kind of therapy dependent upon believing it as past life?? well, to me, it will be interesting to hear what any person has to say about what their so called past life was - has been - in the context of their understanding of their present life - maybe the 'regression' will reveal some kind of symbolic aspiration of character or symbolic representation of character, or hidden though present character trait..... seems it could be a pretty interesting kind of exploration - though I am wondering if whether it works depends on your willingness to believe you had a past life.... guess it does.... if so then seems you would have to believe reincarnation was a possibility to even get started... fair enough though, doesn't mean you absolutely have to believe it.... although seems you would absolutely have to believe it is possible.... and even be willing to believe you did have one.... and is this believing in reincarnation? seems there is no difference in being willing to believe you had one and believing you had one bar where on the scale from t1 to t2 you held each.... so if at some point you believe you had a past life... accept it for the therapy's sake (for example), implicitly you believe in reincarnation.... anyway, sorry... I'm just meandering here... contemplating things.. thinking out loud.. I agree that it could be a positive thing to do...
cheers

Session 4 – 17/08/04
Today was the deepest state I have been in since I started. We worked on relaxation and confidence building so that I can go deeper for the Past life regression I have on Saturday. My hypnotherapist told me to visualise myself going down a 20 step staircase (this was the progressive relaxation induction) and after that to a place where there is nothing but peace, tranquillity and love. She told me to feel and smell the sensations, I noticed a plane hovering above the house (this really happened above the house) and she told me to go deeper from the sound of the plane. The next stage she told me to visualise myself in Egypt, I am walking towards the entrance of the big pyramid and as I walk down I will notice torches of fire light coming from the sides as I keep walking I come to a point where is a treasure and state. The state represents all my fear, worries, anxiety etc…and the treasure represents confidence. So I slowly kicked and punched the state and then took a little treasure, but not all of it, so that I come back for more next time. So, I took some treasure walked slowly out of the pyramid and back to the main entrance. The final stage she told me to visualise a cloud above my head, the cloud is dark full of negativity and pain. I then noticed a Sun light above that cloud and the light is full of strength, positivity and love, the light is so strong that it breaks through the negative cloud and eradicates it. She then told me to walk up when I feel ready but she didn’t count me out to exit. As I woke up I felt my body extremely heavy and light/floaty at the same time. My body felt like a stone and I didn’t want to move, it was one of the beautiful, blissful feeling. My hypnotherapist said I reached a very deep state of hypnosis called Somnambulism.
Overall, my self confidence is DEFINTELY improving and as the weeks go by I get deeper and deeper and this is just the start. :)

- though I am wondering if whether it works depends on your willingness to believe you had a past life

No, it doesn't depend on a concious belief.
I was telling a course participant about a guy doing a demo of
Time Line Therapy going back 76,000 life times (yes that many, even Tad James was surprised) and she said "I don't believe that".
After coming back from her exercise she said "I heard myself saying 10,000 life times ago".
And that was from someone who, at a concious level didn't believe it to be so - well, until after her exercise anyway.
According to Tad James, it depends on whether the unconcious mind believes.

Session 5 - 21/08/04 - Past Life Regression
We started off by using deep relaxation induction for 30 mins this time, I felt so deep and went into somnambulism then Susan (my hypnotherapist) started the past life regression. At this very time I felt I was kind of out of body, I was still self aware but my consciousness was moving, this only felt like it happened about 10-15 seconds. Susan then asked me to visualise myself on a boat and then seeing other people around me and in the distance and near by. She said sit in the boat and let it take you and at the same time see the sea around me. Then the boat brought me to a place and Susan said this is your past lives.
Susan: What is your first name?
Me: John (I naturally had this name come to my mind)
Susan: Are you male or female?
Me: Male
Susan: Describe your surroundings, is it day or night?
Me: It’s day and it’s quite warm and breezy
Susan: What are you wearing?
Me: Sandals
Susan: What else?
Me: I think I’m wearing something natural and not manmade.
Susan: What else do you have?
Me: I’m holding a stick
Susan: What kind of stick? What is it used for? Are you an old person?
Me: I think I need it for hunting
Susan: Who are you with?
Me: I am with a woman
Susan: What is her name?
Me: Melissa
Susan: Who is she?
Me: My lover
Susan: I am now going to take you back to when you were 5 years old, what do you see now?
Me: I see myself living in a small village type of house with a man and a woman
Susan: Who are they?
Me: My parents
Susan: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Me: No
Susan: What year is it?
Me: Not sure, there doesn’t seem to by any time.
Susan: Are your parents still around?
Me: No, they died
Susan: So you are 10 years old without your parents?
Me: Yes
Susan: I am now going to take you 20 years ahead now, what do you see now?
Me: I see myself on an isolated island.
Susan: Which part of the world are you in?
Me: This is no place
Susan: I’m now going to take you 40 years ahead, what do you see now?
Me: I see myself the same as I was 20 years before
Susan: Do you have any children?
Me: No
Susan: Do you have something to offer to the world?
Me: I feel I have to heal the world
Susan: How do you see yourself?
Me: A higher self, a higher consciousness
Susan: What do you do for a living?
Me: There is no such thing?
Susan: I am going to tap your hand 3 times and after the third count you will tell me how you died? 1-2-3
Me: hmm…I think a piece of rock has crushed me from a cliff
Susan: What is happening now?
Me: I see myself floating above me body and I see Melissa crying
Susan: What do you see now?
Me: I don’t feel like I have died, there is no such thing as death, I just feel like I have left the physical body
During the session I noticed some strange things. I felt like the light in the room was flickering and my heart started to beat faster and different times (this reason why this happens is because the heart charka is opening up). Also, my body was vibrating and getting a feel of shiver, but the shiver was more intense than a common cold shiver. My body felt numb, stone, like I didn’t have a body.
When I woke up, I asked Susan was the light flickering during the session, she said no. However, a few mins later the lights actually keep on flickering. I’m thinking it’s just that the bulb needs changing, but I didn’t happen during the session. I have read cases on this and it because the energy flowing through my body can also affect electricity. Another strange thing was that Susan asked me “did you hear something fall?” I said yes, but wasn’t sure what it was, she didn’t see anything fall and has a slight idea on what it could be. There was an water bottle next to hear and she is 100% sure that she didn’t know it over. I can see it in Susan’s eyes that she is amazed on what I was and how powerful I am compared to her other clients, I can feel that too.
My opinion of reincarnation is this. We don’t reincarnate life after life, reincarnation is collective memory. According to Carl Jung’s collective unconscious, we all the same consciousness. This would explain why we could tap into each other’s memories.
For the past 6 months I have felt a where my life is concerned. I feel I have a sudden thirst of seeking knowledge, meeting the right people, perceiving the world differently, there has been a synchronicity of events which I know cannot be just coincidences. I can’t explain what I feel into human words, but I FEEL it, my intuition or heart feels it. I know for a fact that I’m a higher being, but we are all high, but I know that my level is really high compared to the average joe.
Thanks for reading.

Sounds like you had an amazing time. Its funny, I was reading your last session then, and I've just got off the bus from reading Robinson Cruso, sounds like you on that island. :)
I think I might go for a session or two maybe, I have a problem with being too analtyical, I feel it might not work right.

Heh, heh :)
Still I bet a higher being would have a lot of wisdom to teach... i.e. not mere information giving from another's paradigm (Jung's, for example) - so could be good to listen to the wisdom of a higher being ??

 I'm not sure about the 'gifted' discussion. Like the forum though. I thought that someone who accepts the science/philosophy of Hypnotherapy and is trained well and reads alot will be well equip to deal with whatever the hypnosis brings up. I mean...what kinds of gifts are we talking about here? hmmm never mind..great site!!!
