Hi

apologies if this has been covered under a previous thread but I am new to this site.

I have seen many situations where under hypnosis people have been able to recall in greater detail a situation that recently happened. Previously where they have only been able to give a brief description but once under hypnosis they have described the situation in much greater detail without previously being aware that they had taken this information in.

My question is basically would this work if you hypnotised somebody and asked them to recall something that they have read recently. To take an example say somebody had recently taken a test and during that test they have read a particular passage several times but when you ask them to recall it they can give brief details about what the passage said but could not give you any exact lines from that text. Would it be possible to hypnotise someone say within a few days or so of taking that test and get them to remember the exact details. If this would work for a passage of text that had been read several times would it be possible for something someone had only read say once or twice.

Any advice on this or where I could obtain further information would be most appreciated.

If I have been watching far too many cheesy films and TV shows and this is beyond the realms of possibility then apologies in advance.

Regards

Andy

That's why the archives are made available ;-)

Anyway, the answer to your query is
yes.

Merlin replied "yes" and she is quite correct of course, but I am going to qualify that a little, just for fun.....You have read a text, doesn't matter if it is once or several times, and wish to recall it word for word a few day later. Did I get that right? Now what is the reason for the need to recall it? Was it an interesting book or passage that you wish to recall? Remember, you are dealing with a person, not a commodity, and feelings enter into the picture. If there are strong feelings or needs for such a recall, it will happen, but if not, it may be too boring for the person to bother, and they will mentally decline. Terry

Interestingly, just last week I had a client come in last week that wanted to remember what he was “thinking” at a certain moment two years prior. Hypnosis was successful.
