Hi Guys.
It is a well documented observation that clients come out of a hypnotic state feeling fresh, calm and with a sense of well-being. But is it actually addictive?
It is human nature to want to repeat pleasureable experiences so i would suspect hypnosis is addictive to this degree, but is it addictive in the normal use of the word? In short: Can the human body crave hypnosis?

You're talking about a physical addiction. I don't think so! Of course, that's just my personal gut opinion and not based on any studies of the body's physiological reactions to hypnosis. It think it's a pleasurable habit!! If I stopped, I don't believe I'd have "withdrawal symptoms" or the like!
I listen to some particular hypnosis CDs frequently, and I find it a PLEASURE. I get little physical thrills of pleasure in my body at certain words--I love the hypnotist's voice in addition to everything he says. The quality and tone of his voice. (He told me I would find it a pleasure!) But I don't believe it's a physical addiction. Maybe an emotional addiction? :) It makes me feel great and I consider it a "healthy habit." It's something I do for myself with no downside to it that I can see!

"human nature to want to repeat pleasureable experiences" = Mind (mental addiction)
"human body crave hypnosis" = Body (physical addiction)
Not sure but, seams like you introduced a concept and then posed a question about another subject. Not saying you are trying to mislead us, but that words can be misleading. Labels like "addiction" are tools are our disposal, not the other way around.
However, if you would like to define Addiction as "human nature to want to repeat pleasureable experiences", and also include that "hypnotic state feeling fresh, calm and with a sense of well-being" then I would strongly suspect by your definition Hypnosis is Addictive!

There you go doc, if I hadn't asked we might be discussion one subject from two different positions, so though I asked the poster to define, I am happy that you contributed your definition, and I will happily go along with your reply:D I am as addicted to hypnosis as I am to breathing, and have used it to keep my heart beating. End of discussion as far as I am concerned
