I tried hypnosis, meditation with binural beats, EFT, Depression medication, but nothing seems to make my stress and sleeping problem go away. I am fatigued to the point where I procrastinate too much and I can't complete my school work. Any suggestions would be kindly appreciated.

the word TRY means to fail... don't try them next time.. do them :)

then you need to ask yourself.. did you do them yourself or have someone with experience help you..

Since you are on medication from a physician we really can't say as that would be interferring with your relationship with your physician. You say you tried hypnosis but you are still stressed. Was the medication from a regular physician or a psychiatrist? There is a difference. If it is just stress, then usually hypnosis works 100% of the time.

What exactly is your problem? Stress? Insomnia? Both?

You are writing about symptoms but symptoms of what? I won't even take a client with insomnia without a written referral from their licensed physician. We are not medical providers. We do not diagnose, treat or cure.

My problem is stress and insomnia. There was a period in school where I became overloaded with work, and I had to spend many nights studying until the morning. By doing that I disrupted my sleep cycle, and I have never been able to recover.

At the moment I experience symptoms of mental fatigue. I can't concentrate on school work. I also exhibit social anxiety and avoidant behaviour.

You know, I had a friend. He worked nights, and had a perfect sleep cycle. One day they all of the sudden without giving him a break switched him to days. Poor guy was pretty misreable, and for a while he couldn't get much sleep. He even tried some sleeping pills, but then he had some more complications, like being late for work a lot. This guy was never late to work, so everyone was all worried. Some people started throwing diagnosis' his way, and everyone gave him their own advice.
Now another friend of this guy, was on days and switched to nights. This friend gave him one great advice. He told him, which he told me later, that... We all need to figure out how to do it, and that it wasn't really just a bump in the road like he viewed it. But it was another part of growing up and learning. Because once he over came it, he'd be better for doing so. Because he would learn a new system, a method that he could apply in other things. Now, that friend for example would think of when he was a kid and would lay there comfortably when he closed his eyes, just at ease, there... still, and would take deep breaths and smile. But my friend decided to figure out his own way of bring about that comfort and peace of mind. He never told me what it was, but it worked! It was so amazing to see him all excited the next day, he was doing this goofy dance. I still remember it like it was yesterday or maybe even today!!

Ahhh, good o' memories!

Dear NewUser,

My friend, one of the difficulties of being here is working with people seeking help for personal problems. To put it bluntly, we cannot diagnose or treat people over the internet. It is impractical and unethical.

Part of the problem is that to do a good job we require the ability to ask questions, view body language, and get immediate answers to our questions. It's part of the pre-induction interview. We can't do any of that here. Any attempts to give you solutions are nothing more than guesswork.

Another difficulty is that people such as yourself give us information you think is proper when, in fact, it is either meaningless at worst or insufficient at best.

You say that you tried "hypnosis, meditation with binural beats, EFT, Depression medication." I have absolutely no idea what any of this means.
You tried hypnosis? How? Did you listen to a recording or go to a hypnotist? If you went to a hypnotist, what was that person's training and experience? You did "meditation with binural beats." Meditation does not need any beats. What, specifically, did you do? How long did you practice each day?

You say you tried EFT. How? Who did it with you? Who taught them? Who taught you? How long did you do the work? You say you were on "depression medication." Which one? For how long? Did you tell your doctor that it wasn't giving you the result you desired?

By the way, as Poodle pointed out, if you are on a prescribed depression medication, then you are under the care of a doctor and in the U.S. it would be both illegal and unethical to treat you without that doctors referral.

You say your problem is "stress and insomnia." Everyone needs stress in their lives. Stress is normal. There is only a problem when people can't deal with the stress. What do you mean by "insomnia?" How many days do you go without sleeping?

You say you have the symptoms of "mental fatigue." Who told you that? What are these symptoms? Who diagnosed you as having "mental fatigue?"

You say you "exhibit social anxiety and avoidant behaviour." What does that mean? There are wide varieties in these descriptions. Who diagnosed you with these things?

Now, because you provided too much information and much of it being wrong for our needs, I'm going to try and cut through it all and explain a bit to you.

As hypnotherapists, we help people change their behaviors. Definitions and diagnoses such as "social anxiety and avoidant behaviour" are pretty much irrelevant to us. We look at specific behaviors and help people change them to desired behaviors.

From what I can tell, it seems like
1) You have problems completing your homework
2) This seems to result in problems getting enough sleep
3) This results in your being tired
4) This results in your becoming cranky

There are far too many potential causes. From what you're saying (and again, this is only guesses)
1) You either need help with school work or a better system of dealing with it
2) You need to be able to stop worrying about what might happen tomorrow so it doesn't keep going round in your head and preventing you from getting enough sleep.
3) When you get enough sleep you won't be tired or cranky.

Now, I have some great news! There are many, many hypnotherapists who can help you deal with these issues and change your behaviors. Won't it feel great when you can have all your schoolwork done on time? Can't you imagine how great it will be to get a good night's sleep every night?

But you're not going to get the help you need listening to MP3s from the internet or CDs ordered through the post. You need to go to a real person, a professional hypnotherapist, in your area. In fact, you should see major improvement within a few sessions! Really!

You can look for magic spells or techniques or exercises you'll do for a few days and get no results, or you can get real assistance with a professional in your area. It all depends upon what you want and how much you want it. If you think you're worthless, then by all means, continue downloading those MP3s! But if you think you're as valuable as I know you are, a couple visits to a hypnotherapist will change your life forever.

Good luck!

That was probably the best explanation of anything I have ever heard

Poster, Don went to a great deal of trouble writting a long post, full of excellent pointers, and common sense, along with the best possible advise. Now YOU have a choice, and that choice will decide what sort of person you are. You can be the normal individual who reads, sees that it doesn't give them the answer they hoped for, and ignores it all. That my friend makes you a complete fool, but it IS your choice to make. On the other hand, you could be one of those visitors who are a joy to help because they are willing to do what is needed to help themselves. In that case, you will read, digest, and follow the directions you are being offered by a highly skilled professional who is offering such help without charge, lucky you....
When something needs fixing, it is of little use saying that the fixing must follow certain preconcieved lines you drew up without knowing the how too's of fixing whatever it is. The mind is a wonderful mystery that some of us have dedicated ourselves to understanding as much as we possibly can, and we know there is no magic portion, magic pill, or magic incantation that will do it. Your statements that you have done certain things is bogus regardless of your perceptions. IF you had seen a skilled practitioner of hypnosis, you would not be writing to us. IF you had done EFT properly you would not be writing to us, and so on. NOW, since you have wasted so much time to this point, are you now going to follow the directions of someone who knows how to fix it, or are you going to continue to look for what doesn't exist? YOUR CHOICE.
Incidentally, this is written for all who come here for help, and not just you.

May I ask where I can verify the qualifications of a professional therapist. How can I find out if someone is qualified to help me.

1) Ask them.
2) Check the reference.

May I ask where I can verify the qualifications of a professional therapist. How can I find out if someone is qualified to help me. You have every right to confirm qualifications of someone you are choosing to work with, but let me ask YOU a question. You are looking for a doctor after moving to a new area of the city. How do you choose which one is right for you? Well, my guess is, you depend exclusively on the fact that each doctor has gone through University, and taken both training and an internship before begining to practise, right? Well by that same token, any practitioner should have taken trainings, and have experience in the field of your problem. Ask and confirm membership in a Society or Association, and ask the practitoner about experience. If there is no trust, don;t employ them is my advise.
