Hi everyone, this is Edsel Chiu. It is my pleasure to meet all of you. I am fairly new to hypnosis, and I am especially interest in self hypnosis recently.

So far I have read the Complete Idiot's Guide for Hypnosis (2nd Edition) as well as the other Chinese hypnosis book. I assume I have the basic concept of hypnosis.

I wonder what are some good books that everyone recommand for either hypnosis and self hypnosis. I have searched hypnosis and self hypnosis in Amazon, are they any good?

Thanks a bunch in advance.

Edsel,

Simon

Edsel, Well, after reading "that other Chines book on hypnosis", I doubt you have the basic concepts you think you have. As for the first book, since it is, according to the title, a book written for complete idiots, I have some doubts that it taught you anything of value. I do know however, that hypnosis does exist as a subject in China, even though it is not a popular subject. If you intend to attempt to use this art, you would do well to take a training course first. Believe it or not, there is no difference between the advise we would give someone in America, to that offered to someone in China, people don;t differ greatly regardless of were they come from.

Edsel,

Did any of the books you've read give you any self-hypnosis drills to do? If so the next step in your in your search may be to play with the drills and find out what your experience is.

It may not be perfect and yet it does give you feedback to make better educated guesses as to how well you are mentally asborbing what it is you think you are understanding from reading. And yes live training is a very good next step also.

I don't think I can do you justice in recommending any books as I haven't read the books you mentioned and therefore really don't have a good idea what the extend of your knowledge may be.

And let me encourage you, what you will ultimately want is wisdom in the area of hypnosis. Knowledge is a mental understanding and wisdom is experiential understanding that comes from application of knowledge.

To Your Best,
Doc
