My local libary has a very poor collection on NLP and such, when I looked for some psychology books.... I GOT THROWN OUT!! So my only last resort to learn information, on the web.... I just want to learn how to have fun with this stuff, I want to learn as much as I can so please tell me FREE websites.

Solaris,
Ask the library to get the books for you.
Ask them for an Inter-library loan.

> I just want to learn and I can't go to colledge or buy

The problem is you are unwilling to truly learn.
The techniques you seek to learn will not yeild the results you seek.

I have just bought instant rapport because you guy's recommeded it. But don't say I am unwilling to learn because I read every book on hypnosis and NLP I can find. I can already hypnotize very well, and have quite a lot of knowledge on NLP. But the problam is when you guy's tell me to learn NLP at a school or recommened a book for only 40 pounds or whatever. I appreciate this, but it is of know use to me as I already am at high school, so I have no time to go to colledge and whatever, I just spent my savings on that instant rapport book.

I have no doubts that I will attened a NLP colledge or whatever when I leave school but right now I want to learn as much as possible.

There is a wonderful commercial that has been showing on TV lately. It takes place in a restaurant. A man takes a bite of food. Suddenly he starts choking.

Two men who have been talking, change their discussion to what they are observing. First, they note that the person is choking. Then they start discussing the Heimlich maneuver, and how to give it, a process which could save the man's life.

Suddenly, a third man--who has not been listening to the two people discussing the problem--runs over to the choking man and applies the Heimlich Hug. A piece of food is freed and the man is saved.

Luckily, the wonderful people who post here are far above average!

Solaris,

People in communist countries have gotten into trouble for trying to
obtain bibles. Some people, mostly in times past, have been
ostracizied for asking for Darwin's "Origin of the Species" (in biblebelt
communities). You report that you were thrown out of a library "when
I looked for some psychology books." Would you provide us further
details?

Okay, We were looking around the pychology section, discussing which book to get. Then a woman see's 2 youths dressed in skateboarding cloathes (us) and tells we are just messing around and told us to leave!!!

Solaris,

Thanks for the reply. The woman (a librarian?) may have had a hard time
with others in similar attire, or had a bad day. If the two of you weren't
otherwise "messing around" and she wasn't enforcing some kind of a library
dress code, she acted wrongly.

Difficult people provide great opportunities to practice rapport techniques.
No matter how the challenges play out, they offer useful feedback about
how to best manage situations with such people, and, most importantly,
valuable lessons about ourselves.

Anyway, I want to commend you on making the effort to do the library
research.

Skaters have a bad rep, undeserved for the most, almost everywhere. A few bad apples, I suppose.

But all skaters get to 'live with it', dont they?

Interestingly enough, you have learned a lot of NLP, in this incident, and you dont realize it yet. You have just discovered (learned the hard way) several important NLP tenents.

Let me explain.

"The map isnt the territory": She looked at you, and "saw" all the other 'skaters', she has ever heard of, all the loud, boisterous, teenagers, she has had experience with, and thought it was YOU. What is important to realize is that she saw you, and something went on in her mind, that resulted in her saying, "Bad Solaris! Get out of the library!", instead of acting on the reality, in front of her. She acted on what was going on in her head, instead of what was going on in the real world. Didnt she? This is a hugh lesson Solaris, because it happens to everyone, all the time. You arent "just" what she assumed from your look, and your friends. Neither is she. OK?

"You cannot, not communicate": You communicated something just by your looks and behavior. Sounds as if she didnt 'hear' what you would have preferred she hear. You are careful about your dress, and 'look' so that you communicate what you want to, to those who understand the 'code'. BUT it didnt communicate what you would have preferred, to the librarian, did it?

"The meaning of your communication is the response you get": This is a hard one to live with, but very powerful when you do. You take full responsibility for the mis-communication, EVEN IF it is ALL her fault. If she saw you as some sort of a skater hooligan, then that is what you communicated to her. Irregardless of what you said or meant. It stands to reason, that if you approached her in the same way, again, you would again, get the same results, doesnt it? And the definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.

So on to the next NLP tenent: "If what you are doing isnt working, do something else, anything else." Going back, dressed as a skater wont cut it, go as a Prep, a jock, hell go as a clown, it doesnt matter, you are guaranteed different results, and you would theoretically keep going back, differently each time, until you finally did get what you want!

And then to the next tenent: "There is no failure only feedback." You didnt fail to get the information you wanted, you only learned one way, not to get it.

Not to the last tenent in this post: "The most flexable part of any system, is the most powerful": This is where you might have to make a "concession", that isnt really a concession. Instead of insisting that she see you, as a complete person, as opposed to just a skater, you might want to change your look, so she sees someone with whom she will be more helpful. And describe this new thing called NLP, and communicate your enthuiasm about it, to her, and get her to assist you, in finding what the library has to offer on it. Now I agree, in a perfect world, you shouldnt have to do this, but this isnt a perfect world. The question is, "What is more important to you, the potential knoweledge, or being 'right'."

So Solaris, would it be too much of a compromise, to got to the library, dressed differently? AND THEN after she has gotten to know YOU, could you go in, dressed as a skater, and teach her, that all books arent what's on the cover? And she would learn, and you would have never had to say anything directly, to her, to get her to learn, and that would be your first deliberate unconscious installation.

How cool would that be?

Skip man, you is on fire today brother..... that is somegreat sh1t you just told to Solaris.... great sh1t!:)
on a not unrelated issue, a thought that came to mind is that I remember someone said once "if the world were perfect, it wouldn't be" -says if it is then it isn't and implies it isn't therefore it is.....(I think) just a little thought on something you said there... heh, heh:D
