Hi,
I'm currently experiencing depression and ocd like symptons like where I feel it is necessary to blink twice if my eyes are tired otherwise they will always feel tired and if i have a headache of something I have to frown. I have pretty much lost interest in everything now and I know that this christmas is going to be utter ****.

My main point is that I have looked at possible tratements of this and the three main ones which I picked up on were pcycotherapy, nlp and hypnotherapy. The problem is each one is different and they all say that there methods are the best. What one do you think I will experience the most benefit from and do some treatments yield better results than others?

Thankyou,
Changy.

Find a hypnotherapist who knows NLP.
Most NLPers also know hypnotherapy.
That's 2 out of 3.

Each person is different, even though the symptoms are similar. NLPers and hypnotists treat persons, not symptoms.
An NLPers or hypnotists will choose the best tool for the job, rather than worry about which method is best.

Changy, of course these people would each say their system is the best. They've each spent years of study and practice and lots of money to hone their skills. What else would you expect?

We have no way of knowing which will work best for you. People here are hypnotherapists and NLP practitioners, not mind readers.

You say you're "experiencing depression." I believe you. But I don't know if you are aware of the difference between feeling really down and being clinically depressed. You say you have "OCD-like symptoms," but your description is of some minor behaviors, not of physician-diagnosed OCD.

The truth is, without an in-person diagnosis, nobody can tell you if their expertise can help you change your behaviors. We can speak in general. In general, all of the methods described can help you. In general, all of the systems can benefit you. In general, all of the systems will yield good results if the practitioners is trained and experienced. In general, given equal lengths of training and ability, hypnosis and NLP will give you faster results.

But it all depends upon you, your commitment to change, and the skill-level of the person you're working with. So I would suggest that you get off of your computer. Don't even reply to this post. Instead, make an appointment with a doctor. If you really have clinical depression and OCD you will have to be diagnosed and may require drugs. Then make an appointment with a practitioner of any one of these systems. Don't wait. Do it now. Get help.

Changy, from reading your posts, you seem to be picking up some very strange habits of late. What with snorting, blinking, and lord knows what else, you seem to be a nest of problems waiting to burst out into full bloom, yet you think it fine to come to the internet and ask strangers what you should do about it!
Would you phone your doctor and ask, "doc, I have a pain in my gut. Do you think I should book myself in for exploratory surgery to find out if it is serious"? Would you consider that normal I wonder? After all, what you are doing here is no different, except that you are asking strangers instead of a known quantity such as your medical consultant. By the bye, are you also wrinkling up your nose like a rabbit? If so consult a Psycologist, you are in an hypnotic trance and I am dying to see how they deal with it.:)

I used to do that yes, do I detect from your post that you are making fun of my problems?

There are also psychotherapists who are also hypnotherapists and NLP practitioners, so that's 3 out of 3.

I know of one who is also an excellent wood carver and part-time fireman.

Just find someone with whom you feel comfortable, and you might find that, possibly, conceivably, the type of therapy is unimportant.

Yes Changy, you can expect Terry to put you in a very deep arrogance.

I used to do that yes, do I detect from your post that you are making fun of my problems? Making fun of your problems you ask? Of course not, that would be cruel, as well as non productive. I am questioning your aproach in asking here rather than locally. You didn't ask how to deal with the problems, only the best route to take, and you are certainly in need of advise for that. (I confess I do find your aproach amusing.) Since I was able to project a problem you didn;t tell us about, I imagine that you should have taken my post more seriously than to suggest I was being uncharitable. :(
Yes, hypnosis does work, but finding someone capable of doing it would be difficult, so I suggested a psychologist, is that a problem?

I guess your not rude anyway there is a hypnotherapist that works close to where I live so I will go through her. The reason I am going through hypnosis is because I heard than what hypnosis and/or nlp can do in a few session can take many years with pycotherapy.

Changy, that may be true.

The thing is, both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy are skills, and the speed and success of either depends upon the skill level of the person.

As a comparison, if you hired an untrained and inexperienced contractor to build a house it would probably take far long to have a quality house built than if you had hired a trained and experienced contractor.

A great psychologist will help you better than a rotten hypnotherapist.

Ask them for information about their training and experience.
