Hi all,

This is my first post, and hopefully one of many. I have been interested in the use of hypnosis from the time I can remember learning my first magic tricks and seeing someone perform. My uncle uses self hypnosis for pains including from lupus. I myself have done much reading and even experienced some teachings in class but have far from arrived at the point I would like to be.

Has anyone here opened a clinic and had great results from using such techniques for pain, smokers, obesity, stress, etc?

In the world of physical/occupational therapy, I have concluded that almost 75% of what we do is not so much from suggested book pathways or of neuro-techniques and such, but instead the power of suggestion and making one believe that they are getting well. As an example, I have noticed when working with spastic muscle, I can proclaim before the inhibitory techniques that this will make the arm better. As I proceed, I will often reassure the pt that it is feeling better or working as I feel it to be. I ask them and coax them into admitting the result is occurring. Once they believe- it happens. I can get almost 30% greater effects from such positive reinforcements or suggestions. Is this simply a form of hypnosis that I have just stumbled upon? Can I improve by knowing more? If so, please feel free to teach me what I should know.

I am also a part time magician. I enjoy entertaining pts and disabled children. Not only that, but I like to teach the children how to perform the tricks that they might increase self worth and be centered as attention in a positive way vs. the usual way they are accustomed. I would love one day to take this to a new level by including the ability to hypnotize.

I have read many books on the subject but most seem to me to teach little more than the art of "suggestion/power of". Can someone instruct me on the next step I would be best to take in perusing a useful way of including hypnosis into my acts or medical uses.

Thanks in advance,
