I was wanting to know how to go about remembering a specific night that you know something bad happened to you but you can't remember. I have tried every way I can think of to find out on my own but nothing helps. I have asked people that were there and nothing has sparked my memory. Can anyone offer any help?

Hi,

Sometimes it's best to not remember specific "bad" things. The mind has a
protective function, in blocking memories from conscious awareness.
Breaching this, when inappropriate, is inadvisable. You used the words
"on my own." This also raises a red flag of further caution. I'd recommend
that you discuss your specific situation with an experienced local therapist,
rather than attempt to proceed further on your own.

'Hypnosis' is a useful tool to enhance memory recall. 'Self-hypnosis' may or may not be beneficial in this case, depending on the specifics of the event to be recalled.

Seeing a hypnotist is best, they generally have experience with this. Yes, it costs money, but if it is a concern, it's likely worth the envestment.

You can also take the time to learn how to enhance recall by using self-hypnosis. The self-hypnosis route will likely be more expensive and time consuming in the long run, and might not even work to your satisfaction, but the benefits of learning will be worth while in the long run.
