Hi, I've just read a couple of articles I found interesting.
They are probably controversial, and might be disputed by many, but anyway I found they were worth a read. Maybe someone else here will enjoy them as well and even have some insightful comments.
They are called "Insight into Cellular Consciousness" and "Mind Over Genes: The new Biology". By Bruce H. Lipton, PhD.

Hope it's okay to post these links. If not I'm sure Skip or Don will kindly inform me ;).

What about these articles did you find interesting? What do you agree with? What do you disagree with?
I think readers would be interested in your opinion, too!

I tend to agree with Don, since this article questions accepted norms that the brain is located in the head, and is the control centre for all functions of the body, yet this article if I read it right, suggests that each gene has its own brain to control its function. What then do you suppose is the job of the brain as we understand it? However, right or wrong it is indeed an intersting article though I found it rather dry for my tastes, and read it as being of possible use in suggestive treatments such as hypnosis, and not the bible of true facts..

Hi, Don.
The first article is the easy one I think. So I will comment on that one for now. Or rather I'll do a bit of quoting.
"It is now recognized that the environment, and more specifically, our perception (interpretation)of the environment, directly controls the activity of our genes".
If this is true, you can change your emotions/mind/body any way you like, if you know how to do it.
"The new-biology reveals why people can have spontaneous remissions or recover from injuries deemed to be permanent disabilities."
Sounds like a plausible "conjecture"
"Some programs are derived from genetics, these are our instincts and they represent nature. However, the vast majority of the subconscious programs are acquired through our developmental learning experiences, they represent nurture."
Some of what merlin has said came to mind...
"The subconscious is strictly a playback machine, perceived stimuli engage preprogrammed behaviors."
"the conscious mind provides 5% or less of the cognitive activity during the day. Ninety-five to ninety-nine percent of our behavior is directly derived from the subconscious. Hence the use of the word ‘power’ in the concept of will power, it takes significant effort for the conscious mind to keep tabs on the subconscious behavior."
Says something about why willpower is so often is powerless.
As to whether I agree or not, at the moment I mostly choose to do neither. I'm not an expert in the field, just trying to learn and experience. But I do have a couple of ideas as to how I can incorporate these ideas into my own training.
Also I found these articles to be very well written. But most of all just interesting.
What do you think? I know I would be very interested to hear your opinion(s).

Good question...

Agreed.
Thanks for the comments Terry and Don :).

Well, I have to go out of town and won't be able to put in any real time with this, but I thought your analysis was great!

Skip's referred to Bruce Lipton here before.
I read his works long ago.
Good reading :)

Hi, today I read an article about bodybuilding. It was discussing increased muscle mass and possible hyperplasia (the "accepted" theory is hypertrophy).
Interesting stuff...
