By “develop a phenomenal memory” I mean develop your memorizing ability. I just wanted to tell you how important it is to have a well structured memorizing capacity as well as a well trained memory. Ability to tackle large volumes of information isn’t a gift – it’s a skill, which means that you acquire it through training and exercises. There is a school that provides a distant learning with lessons and exercises designed with one specific goal – developing memorization skill.

Either this is pure marketing, or I can't see any new material in there...
A lot of waffle and common known theory to sell its courses.
I wanted to put a quote in that I thought was worth repeating, however it has taken too long to find, the essence of it was: practice these memory techniques (which incedentally are using all your representation systems) and you will be good at them. True. Practice makes perfect. There's nothing else worth repeating, the course info is nothing special. Anyone reading this forum wanting to learn memory techniques, there are many great sources out there, check them out first...
Three other references that have provided me with my capacity that can be found in Amazon, or a local book shop.
Tony Buzan - memory techniques, mind mapping, etc
Dominic O'Brian - memory technique.
Paul Schiele - Photoreading
These are my two preferentials, there are many other super references I am sure other readers have.
David2K having a strong interest in memory techniques, is there anything in this site on offer that cannot be found anywhere else?

i appreciate your interest. Just wanted to note that the website i made a reference to is not in business of selling a book that teaches you how to memorize. There is a book however, that is available for a FREE download whcih goes into extensive explanation about the theory behind the courses. Not just any practice makes perfect - you need to find the most effective one. The manual is about 100 page long and contains no advertisement or any sort of sales pitch but a pure description of the system - it's free to download. Feel free to read it and compare to the ideas and approaches to memory improvement that you've already known.

and yes... forgot to mention. As far as i know there's nothing out there that would be even close to what that school teaches. I woud even go to the extent of challenging anyone who has carefully read the GMS manual to liken it to any other mainstream memory improvement system (or any at all).
David, although you may not see it, the link you gave is to a site that is in the business of selling courses. We do not allow such links on these forums.
The book you describe frequently refers to needing to buy other things. It is simply a "come-on."
The technique in the book is similar to that of Arthur Bornstein which I studied over 30 years ago.

You need to remember to forget the things you don't need to remember... :)

Tried photoread some books and it didn't work. Read multiple researches on the matter and came to conclusion that OR it is really hard to do OR it is quite good product of marketing without practical use of any kind (for those who do not indend sell it to anyone else :D )
I did win a bet with a friend when I managed to memorize 50 unrelated words in row and was able to give them back to him in any wanted sequence. I remember most of them even today. That's about a year after.

We do have this fantastic ability to remember everything that has been put into it and it's very well arranged and sorted thru -- it's the subconscious, unconscious or inner mind - whatever you want to call it. It goes IN! Now for the trick, how do you get it out? I know how and I know Don knows how. Does that make you want to study better NOT harder?
Woof!

No, it just makes me want to deprive you of dog biscuits until you reveal the trick.

Woof!No trick, it is simple. Just book a session with any good and skilled practitioner, and we will reveal all, and give you that skill. Unfortunately, I am betting you don't want to part with money, and we don't work for free, so we have impass.... I am amazed at the number of people who expect to get information of value for free. Haven't you noticed that all such offers have a gottcha attatched to them? Oh yes, we don't take dog biscuits in payment by the way.:)

Learning/recall is state dependant.
Learn to go into a repeatable state and recall will be there.
Hypnotists simply provide an easily repeatable state, usually somnambulism.
That's not the only possibility, just an effective one.
Do I get a biscuit?

You may pass GO, Collect $200 and get a dog "cookie". I have three varieties, which would be your choice. I knew you knew. It would be impossible for someone as great as you are to not know. Pood :)

In that case you'd want a "Greenie". I suppose they're in England and I know that Cooper likes them too.

Now, now, Terry, there's no need to start growling at me.
I just thought Poodle & Don were in some sort of occult conspiracy to withold important information from the world at large...........

That's not very flexible of you, is it?

You get an entire box of dog biscuits.
Good Merlin, good girl!

Woof, I went through eight weeks of training at the Bornstein School of Memory in Los Angeles. During that time, we learned and practiced numerous ways of memorizing things. Why multiple ways? Because memorizing a number is different from memorizing a name and associating it with a face. Because memorizing a list of items is different form memorizing music.
There is no "secret." There are lots of methods, all of which have been described in a large number of books.
