Does anyone know of this place in California?

Would you recomend the 10 day Professional Hypnotherapy Certification course they offer?

It is certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cal Banyan has an excellent reputation. Others, here, may be
able to comment about the course, specifically, if they've
attended it.

I've haven't been on the course, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're expecting to start treating clients straight after.

You need tonnes and tonnes of hours of practice, which just isn't possible in 10 days. I think there's way too much information crammed in over a short time period, which doesn't leave very long for you to practice and master each stage before going onto the next.

I have already completed a 6 day course here in London and have been practising on friends and family

I was thinking of doing the Banyan course. Which consists of 100 hours in the classroom over 10 days and then you need to do a further 20 hours of course work.

I would like to then look at starting my own practice while still attending further courses and seminars along the way.

Do you not think this would be enough experience?

Hi Missy - what was the 6 day course you did in London?
I think 100 hours in the classroom is acceptable - I'm more concerned that analytical techniques such as parts therapy appear to be taught from day 6.

Why you feel you need to do the course - is it for a qualification only or because you need experience and knowledge of more advanced techniques?

If you feel competent and believe you have enough practical experience under your belt, then there wouldn't necessarily be a problem with you using suggestion therapy, but for any analytical therapy, I would wait until you have completed further CPL and practice.

You can be an fantastic therapist and an average hypnotist and still be successul - not so true when it's the other way round.

Cal is well trained, though I don't know the course specifics, it'd be a good starting point.

I have not trained with Banyon but he has a good reputation and from what little I have seen his students do good work. I am thinking this would be a very direct approach which does not work with all clients but you could pick up your Ericksonian later.

I also applaud Cal Banyon as he is trying to get us to "police ourselves" before the government does it and he is in favor of an apprenticeship program. Somehow it is better to be a 7-PATH than a 5 as the 7 requires a little more training. From casual observation the 7-PATHers think quite highly of themselves.

WAT1 is training to be a clinical hypnotherapist which is a totally different ball game although I "think" it can be done through NGH after your original trainings. You would have to ask them about it to be sure.

Call up the instructors, talk to them and go with whom you feel the most comfortable. What YOU FEEL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!!

Cal got his training from Kein.
He also studied a bit with Parkhill.
