I have an appointment with a Hypnotherapist next week. I am currently working with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been seeing him weekly for the past 10 months. Although I have discussed hurtful childhood issues with my therapist I display almost no emotion. I've learned to dissociate from the pain and it's really impeding my recovery. I am a member of the Association of Research and Enlightenment (for those of you that are not familiar with this organization, it was founded by Edgar Cayce.) It finally ocurred to me the other day that maybe I should try to be hypnotized to overcome my reluctance to deal with the pain of childhood issues. I contacted my therapist and he thought it was a great idea. He wrote me a referral.

I have tried to be hypnotized one other time about 2 years ago with no success. The gentleman that I am going to see this time has been in business for 31 years and has a degree from a reputable university. I feel confident in his abilities based on his bio but I guess I was just wondering if there, in fact, people that simply can not be hypnotized?

HI Departedsoul,

Given that the hypnotherapist has the skill, anyone can be hypnotised - including you now

Don't try to be hypnotised. Just relax and let the hypnotist talk. Don't try to listen. Don't concentrate on his words, just let it happen.
