Im looking for some information on studying and applying what has been studied in real application. Im more interested in bridging the gap between information and knowledge. Im having a problem that has been plaguing me for years and I don't know if I have a mental block or if Im just not smart.
I have been studying a couple of subjects for the last few years but considering my best efforts, I fail miserably at applying what I've read to a real situation and wouldn't even know where to begin if asked to perform said skill. How can I use NLP to get over this block? I have no formal education in the subject that Im studying but I normally start from the basics and try to work my way up to no avail. I feel like a dumb ox, trying to walk upright. By now I should know this subject backwards and forwards.
Im just looking for some NLP strategies to use to get over this. Im fairly new so please be gentle.

How gentle do you think I should be, when I see you making the same mistake over and over again, and not learning from those mistakes? Not only have you not learned, but you are now asking that we should stear you towards that same mistake again. You want to transfer learning into doing, and have so far failed twice. Now you want us to tell you "how" (learning) into doing it well. Can't be done be you as stupid as an ox, or as intelligent as anyone else. You have a learning method which would work for you well, but are not using it, just as many just like you do. Reading is good, it offers faster progress, but doing gives ease of aplications, and you are not using that method. Have someone SHOW you how, and your problem is solved, and without the use of NLP or any other method of promoting learning. I suspect you are as intelligent as most, so try that first. If you fail, seek the aid of a skilled practitioner and learn from seeing and trying....

One of the biggies in NLP is that we are what we think we are. You obviously don't think much of yourself. This is what in NLP terms would be considered negative, limiting beliefs. I'm sure there are things that you have learned quickly and well. What were they? I bet you can name a few. That in itself proves that you are a learner so dump the limiting negative beliefs NOW! Got it? If not, get it! The more you think you are a "non-learner" the more you are enforcing that negative belief and sure enough, you can really "talk" yourself into it. The sooner you start saying to yourself I am a great learner. I learn quickly and well the sooner your inner mind will catch on and do it. That wasn't so hard now was it? Try it for a few months and watch the difference. Pood :p

Thank you for your somewhat less than enlighting reply. I have read a few of these post and many answers are very helpful, but I do run into those where the person answering a post has overstepped his bounds in the area of respect. People put themselves out there and are asking for answers to questions they themselves can't answer because they are involved in the situation. Its called getting a fresh perspective on your situation and it takes balls to ask for help even if you don't know that you don't need it. Im sure the ppl who answer these post with answers are looking answers themselves and when they ask, they are very respectful. Being gentle means being respectful to the fact that I don't know alot about NLP , that's all. The insights are probably right on but whoever answered this lashed out as quick as possible. I feel like I was just robbed at an ATM. Thanks that really helped!

You're making assumptions which may not be valid for you.
You seem to assume you can learn from reading.
I fail miserably at applying what I've read Reading may not be a good learning modality for you.
The material you read may not be complete by itself.
Im just looking for some NLP strategies to use to get over this. Are you looking for NLP methods to feel good about your failures?

There is no NLP technique for instant learning.

NLP does teach us that we have different learning modalities. Some of us need hands-on to really grasp what we're learning. That might be you.
