Greetings all. New here, wandered about in search of some dynamic interaction on the topic of self-hypnosis after reading the book 'Instant Self Hypnosis' and becoming intrigued by the subject.

My goals: am seeking a personal regimen utilizing (combining?) self-hypnosis, meditation, possibly NLP to better-manage workplace stress and to set a positive mindset for life changes (my primary "issue" that I would like to resolve is that I tend to ruminate on negative / stressful situations from my work life even when I am away from work).

I've been using the suggested 'Stress Buster' script from the ISH book and have had somewhat mixed results. I do find the self-reading approach to be relaxing (I practice in the mornings before I leave for work) however I've not seen changes to the extent that I'd like to believe are possible. I've been practicing now for better than a month, for sake of relativity.

At present, unfortunately, visiting a professional hypno-therapist is not within my financial means - hence my interest in what I can do on my own / with my own resources.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've seen mixed reviews on the ISH book, and would like to hear some of the perceived pros / cons and potential alternatives for a self-directed approach to resolving such ans issue as that which I mention if any exist.

Thanks all.

PEACE.

First off - welcome to the Forum.

You cannot afford not to see a professional if you really want results. On your own you will be like the little hampster on the little wheel that only goes around and around and around.

I would suggest that you find the very best professional. You can do certain things to earn or keep money such as 'brown bag' lunches, zero movies, mow lawns and shovel snow. There are always people looking for quality workers for around their homes. You can be that quality worker on weekends. You can ride a bike instead of driving a car. You can cut down on cell phone minutes. You can read books instead of watching TV. You can do this.

After you have found how very powerful NLP is and how absolutely fantastic hypnosis is, you just may probably want to study them in person. Such fantastic careers we have. The people we help already have the resources they need. We just help them find it or them as the case may be.

You can also sell that silly book you bought on the net. There will surely be another that will 'think' it may help.
