View Full Version : Scariest induction ever!!!

At first, when I was beginning the session with my subject, she was almost telling me the way the session should be ran. I immediately lost confidence but kept moving forward.

Next I proceeded with some easy convincers and other high-percentage moves. When I got to the hand-clasp test she totally opened her fingers. Me being super embarrassed say, "it's ok, close your eyes!" As I scramble in my mind for a cover up.

I start making up script like it's no one's business. I end up going for an induction that has done me good in the past. Hanging on by only a thread of confidence, I command, "SLEEP!"

"ahhhhhhhh!"... "AHHHHHH!" She screams! I scream! We all scream for ice cream. She is frightened and causes me to scream because of how unexpected it was! After I clean out my underwear I immediately droop my head in failure. We have a small conversation about how I blew it and what just took place. Just as I'm ready to change the subject to anything... "not hypnotism", She starts rambling on about something...

"I'm confused, I'm just, confused" and so on and so forth. She continues on with this a few times. Then it dawns on me... It Worked! She is actually hypnotized! Now with my confidence booming higher than ever. I approach her calmly and simply pull a little sneak attack on her and she's out!

The rest of the session worked out fantastically! I believe I was able to take her down to somnambulism or possibly even a bit deeper. I was able to accomplish catalepsy, amnesia, natural anesthesia, positive and negative hallucinations, and she even began to reject my suggestions towards the end.

She was removed from the hypnotic state feeling wide awake and full of energy. She didn't remember anything but the feeling of hypnosis itself just as I suggested.

If my experience could be turned into a lesson it would be this. No matter what the reaction is, move forward with confidence. Things don't always turn out the way you planned.

Throughout this experience I learned a lot but also have many questions. Here are a few:

- Has this happened to anyone else before?.. (The screaming in fear part after yelling the command to "sleep".)
- Through reading my description of the session itself, does the explanation of the induction give you any idea what state she was actually in? (My knowledge is young in the world of hypnotism, enlighten me.)
- When removing a subject from hypnosis, what is the significance of allowing them to remember what happened versus not remembering? I have my own theories, I would love to hear yours.

I'm curious to hear what you all have to say...

You really did not totally test to see if she was just playing along with you. Read Merlin's FAQ. Have you read any of the books on the booklist and if so, which ones? They will teach you 'ABOUT' hypnosis.

Playing with a mind is extremely dangerous. Please get some in-person training and practice on other students with the teacher watching.

I have no idea what 'high percentage moves' are so you might want to explain that and what is a 'sneak attack'? Why in the name of Heaven or Hell would you want to remove what was said in hypnosis, if she were there? That's not right. We only do that for certain things.

This just smacks as extremely dangerous.

Lesson No. 1: Whatever the client does is PERFECT and it is your job to utilize it to induce the trance state and this also goes for suggestions in direct hypnosis.

Yelling a command to 'Sleep" does NOT induce a hypnotic trance. You are missing many steps here.

Us tell you where she was? You need to test to make sure she is there first!!

Please, please, please get some real live training.

The part you have very correct is: Things don't turn out as planned) so that's why we don't plan

Dr, Matt (owner here) is having a short hypnosis class in Oregon really soon. GO!!!!

Stay well~Pood

Hi, Wally!

1 question, 1 comment.

The question: you elicited all that hypnotic phenomena from her, positive hallucinations, etc, and then you say: "and she even began to reject my suggestions towards the end." What does that mean? How do you know she was "beginning to reject my suggestions?" What changed? What were the suggestions?

Comment: you said that your client screamed in fear "after yelling the command to sleep." Never YELL anything at people you're hypnotizing. It's not necessary, counterproductive in fact, and I think it's ridiculously rude.

Connie's comment also covers snapping fingers. That too is very rude.

Well, I'm noticing that my response to Poodle isn't being posted and so I am unsure if this response to Connie will be posted. Why am I writing this?...

Well just in case it gets posted, here you go...

Please excuse my writing style. I was being very theatrical. Attempting to entertain the reader and not bore them to death with the same old stuff you see on this forum over and over again.

To answer a few of your questions Connie:

To my understanding, when a subject is lowered into the esdaile state, they begin to reject suggestions and will not come out of the state until a hypnotic threat is introduced. If I'm wrong, please correct me. I would love for this forum to be a place for learning and not a place to bash new people.

I did not "yell" at her to clarify. I simply used a shock induction and commanded sleep with confidence. It scared the crap out of her and in turn scared me as it was totally unexpected.

Try reading my original post again as if it were comedic and a little less serious. Not that my questions weren't serious, but I often exaggerate in my writing to add a little laugh here and there.

Maybe I'm not funny, maybe I am. All I ask is to take me as a serious hypnotist and answer my questions like you would expect yours to be answered.

Hope this clears some things up.

You really did not totally test to see if she was just playing along with you.

An answer to one of Poodle's earlier statements:

I had her experiencing the natural anesthesia that comes along with somnambulism and tested this by pinching of the skin. I had her test it on herself as well. She was either NOT playing along with me or she has an extreme pain threshold. I'm open to either being reality.

So, this forum bores you. That's unfortunate. I'm sure that there are more theatrical ones out there to your liking. Go thee forth and find!

We are not a teaching forum. We do not have the bandwidth to do it.

To my understanding, when a subject is lowered into the esdaile state, they begin to reject suggestions and will not come out of the state until a hypnotic threat is introduced. If I'm wrong, please correct me

This is the second time I have read pure crap like this. I would really like to know from where it comes to put a STOP TO MISINFORMATION.

Please Wally, Never ever threaten a mind in hypnosis.

Did you completely read Merlin's FAQ? Do you know for 100% sure if someone is in a hypnotic trance or not?

Please, please get in person training with lots of practice on other students. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are not games to be played.

Why would a person in the Esdaile State reject suggestions? What is the only use for this State? How did this state get named and why. How does one bring client out of this state correctly.

To us, hypnosis is VERY, VERY SERIOUS as we know what we are doing and why. Your attempts at comedy in hypnosis perhaps indicate you should take a training in stage hypnosis; however, even they have to respect it and take it seriously.

Not a forum for learning? Well that's lame.

This is to anyone looking for anything on this forum:

1 - Read Merlin's FAQ
2 - Get in-person training
3 - Don't ask anything until you do 1 and 2. If you do, people will just belittle you.

Peace out Hypnosis Forum!

Wally,

There is a distinction you might wish to make between teaching and learning.

If this isnt a teaching forum, as Poodle indicates, that might mean a number of different things.

It certainly doesnt mean there is nothiong here to learn, and if you couldnt learn something from here that would be sad indeed.

Poodle intends to convey that we arent here to teach you, or anyone else, basic hypnosis. We arent a school. We dont 'usually' do 'how to'. That isnt our purpose. We are here because we like talking to other people about this.

So you will get short shift, if you ask here, "How do I hypnotize someone." or "Can anyone give me a script ..."

If you cant already do those things, we arent serving the field of hypnosis well, by trying to give you instruction via email.

It isnt that we think you are a fool, it is that we are not fools.

I hope you can understand that.

And given that ...

Ask what questions you will. People might answer, or they might not, based on how they feel, and how the questions is asked. And sometimes people dont like the answer they get even when it is an accurate answer.

If you ask a question such as, "What is meant by unspecified referential?" you will get very different results than if you ask, "How can I covertly hypnotize a red headed gymnast I saw on campus yeaterday?" Although both questions could lead to the same result.

Does that help in any way?

If Wally was unable to find ANY information in my post beyond the first line, Wally just may have started to learn something.

Instead all Wally saw was: not teaching forum
Merl's FAQ
in person training

and

Wally lost the chance and instructions. Maybe someone else will find that post and put their mind to work. Suppose??

And, to start with Wally insults this Forum so Connie sent him on his way.....In Wally's current mindset, we are BORING.

I'm close to repeating your 'favorite saying' here.

Hugs~Pood

By the way, I was perfectly willing to engage in a dialogue with Wally, IF he had chosen to answer my questions. He did not. :) c'est la vie!

Mine did not get answered either.

And, when 'education' was given, it was ignored as Wally only chose to see what Wally wanted to see.

Pood :)
