Smoking, a very dangerous addiction

We all know that cancer is a major cause of illness... and smoking is a sure-fire way to fuel this debilitating disease in your lungs.

But did you realise that smoking actually affects every part of your body, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes? Starting with your brain, smoking is a cause of stroke and mental illness. It causes skin conditions and can be attributable to early hearing loss. It stains teeth and fingernails, contributes to cataracts and macular degeneration of the eyes. Smoking pumps thousands of chemicals into your bloodstream and endangers your heart and every vital organ. It enhances your risk of stomach, rectal and liver cancers due to the number of cancer-causing chemicals present in cigarette smoke.
If you are planning to conceive a child, you are in fact limiting your chances of conception by smoking, and increasing the risk of miscarriage, pregnancy complications and sudden infant death syndrome. Your unborn child will be exposed to countless health risks, and given a less than optimal start in life.

Then of course there is the added danger to others. Secondhand smoke - that is, the smoke you exhale or the smoke that wafts from your lit cigarette - is still dangerous enough to cause many of the problems I have just mentioned in a non-smoker, particularly if they are regularly exposed. Children in particular are susceptible as their lungs are still developing. So not only are you endangering your life, you are more than likely hurting your loved ones too!

Why do you take unnecessary risks with both your life and lives of your loved ones? Surely you know the dangers to your health involved - the television commercials alone would have alerted you to that fact, not to mention the government warnings all over the cigarette packaging.
Now, I know that you are an intelligent person, and when it comes to smoking, it is just not that simple. Smoking is an addiction, and like any other addiction, requires much more than mere willpower or 'mind over matter' to overcome.
But I've tried...

If you're serious about quitting, chances are you've tried a variety of methods and formulas. Going "cold turkey" left you feeling plucked; nicotine patches only left sticky residue on your arm... and you've chewed so much gum that you are beginning to resemble a cow. You may have even endured a quit smoking course, or submitted to the piercing pricks of an acupuncturist's needle.
I'm sure you tell yourself that you want to quit smoking. You have probably made New Year's resolutions and marked dates on your calendar. Tomorrow or next week is looking good... but that day does not arrive.

Do not despair. Every year, there are thousands of people all over the world who actually see a hypnotherapist to get help to quit. Yes, it is indeed possible to utilise hypnotherapy to quit smoking. XXXX is a remarkable tool for overcoming that terrible nicotine addiction.

I would have just deleted the above post because it included links to a commercial site. That is, the above post is basically quit smoking advertisement. However, I decided just to edit out the links so that people here could see what others are doing.

Actually I stopped reading after the "We all know that cancer is a major cause of illness..." statement because it is such an error. So the one thing I would say about advertisements is make sure they're factually accurate.

However, let's say that you do think "...cancer is a major cause of illness..." Putting that in an advertisement would show that you are out of touch with reality. This is not because your beliefs are "wrong," but because they do not match what is the common belief. And as they said in the movie, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend." If you want to include your out-of-norm beliefs in an advertisement, you also have to explain why the norm is not accurate. IMO this is most often a waste of expensive advertising space and can be better dealt with elsewhere.

To sum up, if I were seeking a way to stop smoking and I saw this ad, I would almost immediately that this person didn't know what he was talking about and look elsewhere. Being factually correct, using appropriate grammar and punctuation, and respecting potential clients is important in advertising. This ad begins with an "epic fail."

What do others think of this ad?

Just think of what he would say about automobiles if he were really concerned aboput things causing death!

Highly innacurate factually.

All negative/away from strategically. (Is that how he chose his wife?) ;)

Give up a lifetime of smoking satisfaction just because I might die at the end of my life?

Fishing in a poor pond.

Georgina with this adv would attract a specific client. The majority of smoking cessation clients would not be attracted to this adv. However the one's that were would be difficult to work with in hypnosis as they would be almost in the middle of the self-referential/other referential meta-program and unless Georgina knows how to specifically calibrate the difference she may meet with less success than expected.

Overall a well targeted adv to a more challenging to work with, very small portion of the population.

I wonder if she has targeted adv for other meta-programs.

it seems as if the dangers in beliefs = everyone BUT me. Me is always fabulous and none of that could ever possibly happen to ME. All of that will happen to everyone BUT ME.

This also goes for the current President of the USA -- "I'll try harder." "It's been a stressful year." That right there a good indication of total future failure. He is not committed to this at all. I certainly did not hear: I WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO STOP THIS NOW. Would I take him as a client? NO!

Want to know benefits other than health, look at costs! How much money will you save in a day, week, year, 10 years, 20 years, 30 years.

PS -- If the above is an ad, people will avoid it. Waaaaay toooooo looooong. Even I got bored with it.
