Hi there,
A friend of mine is going through an awful time at the moment as he has given up cocaine since new years day. Research shows that it has psychological after effects more than physical as the physical after effects are only short term. He is very paranoid, moody, unhappy, nervous and says sometimes he doesn't know what is real. Would hypnosis help him with this?
Thanks

Hypnosis can help.
How much help depends on many factors.
It would be best for him to see someone who specialises in this kind of hypnosis.
Cocaine alters the brain permanently. Hypnotherapy can help to (beneficially) modify the alterations and install new behaviour But it needs a good hypnotherapist.

Going to a hypnotherapist who also specializes in behavioral-cognitive therapy can also be helpful, as there are often other psychological adjustments that must be made in one's life. More than just no longer being dependent on the drug to feel good.

Going to a hypnotherapist who also specializes in behavioral-cognitive therapy can also be helpful, as there are often other psychological adjustments that must be made in one's life. More than just no longer being dependent on the drug to feel good. You are correct in the intent of your post, but no therapist worthy of that name would leave a client in a vacuum. It is always the intent to replace the bad habit we are removing with something to fill the vacuum, such as a good habit to take up the time used by the bad habit we are removing. If not, then smoking for example with likely be replaced by overeating, which is almost as bad for the health of the client.
