Hi I have attempted to be hypnotized, but unfortunately, I am a bit scared of not being in control. I can't stop to think of the process of being under hypnosis and this prevents me from going into deep trance.

I realize I am not a good subject for hypnosis, but definetely would like to be. Is there anyway to overcome my analytic mind?

You're always in control.
You're a great subject for hypnosis, you just need accurate information.

An analytical mind is of value in any partnership, including the hypnotic one, so Don has said it all. What you need is a properly qualified practitioner to work with. Why would you suppose that you are a bad subject just because of how you think?

When I am trying to get into a deep state of hypnosis, I am constantly thinking, "Am I getting into hypnosis?" and genereally tend to analyze the situation. I am saying I am analytical, it's more that I tend to trust my conscious brain more and am scared to give control to the unconscious.

I feel that if the conscious brain is in control, I will be OK, but if the unsconscious is taking over then I really can't control it. This is also why I kind of monitor this shift from conscious to unconscious and this is what's causing the difficulty in my hypnosis.

Of course, my goal is really to trust the unconscious and I wouldn't mind to just "let go", but I am preventing myself unsconsciously. Makes sense?

Hmmm. Ya know, your unconscious is already in control of so much. It controls your heart, your breathing, the production of hormones, digestion, balance, and so much more.

However, from your description, you simply need a hypnotist who can do rapid inductions. You won't have time to overanalyze.

Dons right, may I also sugest you ask your hypnotist if he's experienced with confusion methods, this is a great way to bypass the analytical mind

Without more information, there are several possibilities here. One, you have an idiot for a practitioner. Two, you are attempting to do it yourself, in which case, you have an idiot for a practitioner. Or three, you are not giving your practitioner sufficient time to get the job done properly. Personally I would opt for choice one, or two, since any good practitioner would have explained sufficiently to calm you down, and the problem would not have arisen, but then we are not there are we?

>When I am trying to get into a deep state of hypnosis

So, stop trying ;o)

Your conscious isn't in control, your unconscious is.
Try typing just one letter consciously.
You have around 150 muscles from arm do fingertip.
Just try to coordinate each one consciously.

Hmmm, where is your conscious mind when you are sleeping? Hopefully it gave up control or you'd never sleep. You slip "naturally" into hypnosis every morning of your life when waking up and every night before sleep. You also go into a hypnotic state every 90-120 minutes of the waking day! Hypnosis is NOT a truth serum. You can lie just as well in trance as out of trance. You are basically not "giving up" anything. You are only allowing beneficial and useful suggestions to be entered into your subconscious mind to achieve the goal that you want. If your hypnotist is trying to use the Relaxation Induction on you it will not work! Your mind has to analyze what is said first before it will do it. By that time the hypnotist is 5 steps ahead of you and you are wondering: What's going on here? What's wrong with ME? Truth is nothing is wrong with you. You just seem to be in the hands of someone that does not understand your thinking pattern. Have you ever d riven across town and not remembered if you stopped at all the stop signs or lights going OMG -- I HOPE I DID! Your mind was in trance. Trust me. You did. Your subconscious mind is your protector. The conscious mind is ONLY for LINEAR, ANALYTICAL THINKING! So now, how many times have you been in trance? Just because a hypnotist induces it, in no way makes it any different except we can get you deeper than you would have ever thought possible. You are still in control. If a hypnotist says something that is against your subconscious, you will pop out of trance in an instant. That is why we chose our words very carefully.
