This is a real "goodie" and I would enjoy reading comments from those of us that "do" as we may be able to assist some very misinformed students some place in this world.

Stated to student by CI: "The unconscious mind is LAZY. Student then repeats this to me as an answer to a question I posted. I'm quite sure you know me well enough to know my response.

Student had a few days to reflect on what I wrote back and I received another answer today. It is LAZY BECAUSE IT DOES NOT LIKE CHANGE. Interesting statement, huh, considering the fact that phobias are in the inner mind and only take a fraction of a second to learn but yet "it" doesn't like change.

This may be the most interesting inaccuracy I have read since threatening the inner mind to come out of the Esdaile State.

GRUMP GRUMP - Pood

So the complex equivelent is 'no change equals lazy'?

That's an interesting belief.

Student had a few days to reflect on what I wrote back and I received another answer today. It [the UC] is LAZY BECAUSE IT DOES NOT LIKE CHANGE.

LOL! I'd say it's just the opposite. The UC works very hard to maintain the status quo. It makes people keep doing all sorts of crazy things because it's done that in the past and wants to do that in the future. That's hard work! I don't think the U.C. is lazy at all.

Ignorant (not stupid), yes.
Set in its ways, yes.
Lazy? No, no, nooooo, no!;D

another goodie thrown at this group of students --

"The subconscious mind is a blank slate just waiting for you to fire in your suggestions."

If only it were that easy we'd all be perfect in every way (just not close to it). ;)

I really believe these little topics may be of great help to newly certified hypnotists that may still have some questions or are looking for more guidance so they can continue to grow and prosper in our fields.

I am really sure you know me well enough that you know the answer. We have discussed it.

if some people could have taken what Tad James has written and totally misconstrued it:

Lazy? --Takes the path of least resistance - (responds with instinct and habit)

and

Blank slate to fire in suggestions? To follow directions - (at the same time needs repetition, seeking more)

I can "see" how an ill informed person could take basic written statements and turn them around to mean something entirely different by not finishing.

Don - since you have met Dr. Matt personally, do you know how he weighs in on these? I highly suspect the same as the rest of us.

I think he does follow what you are saying. Best thing to do would be to ask him.

Done. Did. Don't know how much time he has to answer tho. He's a pretty busy person.

I would say the unconscious is enamoured with success in the sense that ...

'If it was successful once ... i'll try it again and again.'

And it is stubborn in the sense that it will continue to accomplish what it defines as success, despite objections from the conscious mind.

And ignorant only in the sense that it will ignore input, requests, pleadings, demands, etc unless put to it skillfully. Then it will co-operate beautifully, and its wisdome will become obvious.

I believe it is a mistake to have anything but a deep and profound respect for the unconscious.

The unconscious when treated as a red headed step child returns ought but scorn. And who can blame it?

When treated with respect, it opens the mysteries of the universe.

Too new agey for you?

Tough! ;)

Respect, yes. And TRUST. That's my main mindset. I trust my unconscious, to do wonderful things for me. And I love my unconscious. I tell people: "It's the good guy, the superhero." :)

Here is the way I sometimes perceive my unconscious...

From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 p.m. Instead of 7:30.

To Your Best,
Doc Houston
