I have a social phobia that has begun to deteriorate my life. My career is stagnating because of my avoidance of social situations and I haven't achieved intimacy with a woman I'm in love with (my first love) as a result of my condition. I've sunk into a depression that I am now receiving treatment for but I am anxious for any help in overcoming this fear and getting therapy that will be highly effective and fast. I've just begun to consider hypnosis. Has anyone had experience in overcoming this fear with hypnosis? Thoughts or comments shared would be much appreciated.

Wiegs,

It's good to read that you are already receiving treatment for the depression that you spoke of. It's my experience as a therapist (and that of colleagues that I respect), that people with fears such as you describe can often be helped with hypnotherapy. It's advisable, though, to discuss this with whoever is treating you for the depression, to help determine if it may be beneficial to you at this time.

I send my best wishes to you.
