Alright so the title might sound a little cheesy, but if you have a minute I'l explain it further.

I am a 16 year old Norwegian boy, I see myself as brigter than most and a hell of a mathematician. My entire life I've been interested in the mysteries of the human mind and it's secrets. I was facinated at how certain actions of mine would induce actions from other people, and they would always be the same. This might sound like the thoughts of a madly manipulative child, wich I was, but as I grew my facination at how it worked grew with me and it wasn't long ago that I found out how closely related my interest in the human mind was to hypnosis (something I had thought of as silly and artistic before)

Today after spending well 5 hours straight reading till I thought my head would explode I confronted my parents about how I could gain knowledge from actual professionals. Their answer astounded me, they blindly refused me to learn hypnosis, thinking I was still the young boy wanting to "play with peoples heads" disregarding the consequences. They refused to support me in any way with my quest for knowledge. They said that only doctors and psychiatrists had any use of such a "tool" and since I was neither and would probably end up an engineer I had no use of it.

tl;dr: I'm young, I crave for an understanding of hypnosis and my parents refuse to support me.

So I have a few questions for those of you with the answers:
Why did you learn hypnosis? Was if because you needed it as a tool for the job? Or out of sheer curiosity?
If any of you are familiar with the nordic countries perhaps Norway in particular, is there any decent courses I could take?
What do you think of the reaction of my parents? Am I simply being a child not seeing the futility of this?
Is there any way for someone like me to satishfy my needs of knowledge?

I so not know the laws of your country. In the USA a person must be 18 or older to study hypnosis or if younger, must be accompanied by a parent.

There is an instructor in your country. His name is Ronny so if you log onto The American Board of Hypnotherapy and search for Trainers in Norway you will most probably find him. If you do find Ronny, remind him he owes me lunch. ;)

Right now I agree with your parents. You are 16 and deciding with a mind that has far yet to go what you are going to be and do in this crazy world of life. Slow dooowwwnnn. Give life a chance and enjoy it. You can always study hypnosis when you are grown and not living with your parents. Perhaps you will be a hypnotist and perhaps you will be a mathematician and there is a very good chance you will be something all together different.

I have no idea why you landed on hypnosis while the countries around you are going crazy for NLP. The Fins are even using NLP on their horses. People from the Nordic countries were just so absolutely wonderful, well trained and a fantastic group to be with. I feel blessed to have met them.

We have a member - screen name "Henrik" that is from your country. Perhaps he can help you more. He has not been on for awhile.

Be well and enjoy what you have now~Pood

Hi, Jolle!

If you are serious, the interest will endure. Long beyond your time living in your parents' home and under their "support" or lack of. Hypnosis is COOL. Very useful. For anyone and everyone. I think your parents don't fully understand what hypnosis is or can help people accomplish. If they did, they'd be studying it as well!!! :) Keep learning! Keep growing. Keep the excitement alive, which is not difficult. The more you know the more you appreciate this power of the mind.

I found it quite by accident. But once discovered, I recognized VALUE! As one of my favorite teachers said: hypnosis is not just something you learn, it's something you become.

I'm hypnosis. Now. Eat it. Breathe it. Live it. And I love it.

If professional live trainings are not an option for you right now (and maybe they are!) then you can study online/books/videos/etc. for now!

Have fun!!!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Today I had a client for smoking cessation. I was giving the pretalk (what is hypnosis and how does it work and what he can expect, and so on...) and he suddenly asked me: "Why are you so bubbly?" :) It's because, I told him, I LOVE what I do.

If you love hypnosis (what you've learned so far) hold on to that!
