Ok, I'm new to hypnosis and my main subject that I'm learning with(friend) has been doing things that I haven't read about. she can, more or less, choose what to do and not to do. she says that if she doesn't want to then she just says no to me in her mind, have you heard of that? Is there something that I can do to make it to where either she can't say no or it is harder too? I'm not doing anything that she would find offensive or that would be harmful in any way! other than that she is very responsive. I can hypnotize her in 15-30 seconds just doing an arm rigidity test that I've modified. and deepen her by waking and then snapping and going deeper, as well as the staircase one. any help would be very welcome.

Excellent, that is what friends are for isn't it? Incidentally, if you decide that you no longer have an interest in hypnosis, and that becoming a surgeon is more to your likeing, perhaps your friend will allow you to practise with a scalpel and remove a few of those unnessesary apendages we all have, such as the appendix or tonsils, and perhaps a finger or two just for fun. Hell, who needs ten fingers? Can I help you? Well I could suggest you take up dentistry now, and use hypnosis for an anasthetic while you pull a few teeth from your friends mouth, or perhaps do a couple of filllings. After all, it gets boring if you learn a skill and never find a good use for it.... I pull teeth all the time myself, and I do it for free just to get practise......

Hi "Guest":

Yes - I have heard of people resisting suggestions by saying "no" either in their mind or out loud.

Is there something that I can do to make it to where either she can't say no or it is harder too? I'm not doing anything that she would find offensive or that would be harmful in any way! [clip]
Yes! There something you can do to make difficult for her to say "no". "How", you might ask? Simple. Talk to her.

The implication in your email is that you want to covertly make her do something that she doesn't want to do. If that is your intent then you might want to check your personal ethics. If not, then maybe you might want to consider trusting your friend when they say "no".

Hypnosis is not something you do to a person.

All the best,

Well since you wish me to get 'formal training' could you reccommend a school to me? I am in east Texas, near Tyler if any of you know of it. I learned hypnosis the 'crack-pot-learning-from-a-book-because-I-don't-know-where-a-school-is' way. I own and have read all of Andre M. Weitzenhoffer's 'The Practice of Hypnotism' and his "general techniques" book. If these are no good, please point me in the right direction. thank you..

Look no farther than to see who's website you are on. That should give ya a really good clue. If it's overly difficult to read the opening page to this forum, there are schools in NM, CO, AZ, CA, FL, NY just to mention a few. Check the archives for previous posts. They are full of good information. You seem to have a computer so why not key in hypnosis training schools or NLP training schools and see what you come up with.

Hi guest.
Many of the books available are 20-50 years old in their methods.
A good training will update you :)

Man, when I read this I heard it in one of those speed talking announcer all powerfull mod-god voices. That was cool.

Ok, one more question.

what is a good way to judge what state trance a person is in(light, med., etc.)? I 'read' that the arm rigidity test while hypnotised and then how much pressure they put up is accurate, but I have a hard time believing it. And since it takes me not even half of a minute to induct her, is it safe to say it would take less time than average to deepen her to somnambulism(sp?). Thanks
