Hello everyone,
I have been practicing meditation for a while and I love the peaceful serene which I feel when I'm deep in trance, but other than that I'm not sure if I'm being helped mentally when it comes to hypnosis. I have a timid personality, even though at times I do feel confident in myself. But I wanted some congruency in the way I think and act, so I decided to purchase Paul Mckenna's super confidence, to help me be more bold in myself and especially in social situations where I can be introverted (which I hate) alot of the time.
I have been listening to it every night now for over a month, and while I do feel something during the day, I still feel timid and withdrawn most of the time.
I realise that I cannot overturn 29 year old behavriol habit in a span of 1 month, but I at least want to feel that there is development happening. So my question really comes down to, does hypnosis really work? has it worked for you? I would love to hear your stories, because right now, I feel this is my only way to really change my life.
Meditation is not hypnosis.
Hypnosis is like a glove. If it fits your hand it feels like nothing and works perfectly. If it doesn't fit nothing you can do will make it comfortable and work.
So does that CD work? If not, it didn't fit for you.
You say you believe you cannot overturn a 29-year-old behavioral habit in a span of one month. In NLP we'd call that a "limiting belief." My belief is that you could change in one session.
Maybe I'm wrong. But which belief would you rather believe.
All change is instantaneous. It may take work to get up to that point of change, but the change itself happens instantaneously.

Don very accurately answered your post. YES! Hypnosis works that fast. I know what Paul McKenna does and he is very good at his job in person. That does not mean in the least that the CD you purchased is going to work for you. It's very easy for us to give you what you want. A little NLP, a little hypnosis and you will have what hypnosis can be called: "Dreams on Demand".
All of us here us self-hypnosis and some of us have tackled some very large things that have come up.
Head on over to Merlin's FAQ as she has done a wonderful job writing it and you will find exactly what Don and I are talking about. I know it seems like a very large and almost impossible problem to overcome but for us it really isn't. You will be very surprised and very happy with how quickly things can be changed (Merlin also covers that in her FAQ).
Be well~Pood :)
Raven80,
First: In general, hypnosis works. It works for millions of people, there is no reason to believe it wouldnt work for you.
Second:There are all sorts of trances. Meditation is one. Hypnosis another. Puppy love another. Etc.
Third: It is your results that matter. And only that. If you arent geting the results you want then first refer to the first thing I wrote, and then consider...
Either you arent in a hypnotic trance sufficent for changework...
Or your not skilled enough to effect the changes you desire, because of inability to properly phrase ...
Or not taking into consideration other values and beliefs you hold that are on conflict with what you desire...
Or your ongoing experience AFTER trance work is sufficently conflicting that you 'revert' back because you havent compensated for that during the trance work.
Getting into trance is the easy part. It is having the skill/training/experience to know what to do to actually set yourself up for success that is the real iceberg under the tip.
What you are attempting is very doable. And can be done very quickly.
BUT if you dont know how to make yourself comfortable with the new you, and you dont have the social skills to support the new you, what do YOU think is going to happen as you continue daily to adjust to fit in with your enviornment?
Did you ever see the movie Shrek?
Shrek is an ogre who tries to act as if he is human to please others. And he could pull it off, except that the only thing he does is put on fancy cothes. Inside he knows what he is doing is a sham, his behaviors because he lacks social skills demonstrate for him he is a sham. So he is exceedingly uncomfortale in his 'role'. And he 'reverts', back to what he is comfortable with, what he 'knows'.
What Shrek is trying to do is doable. But not the way he is going about it. And it has nothing to do with the fact that he is an ogre.
It has everything to do with the fact that he is trying to accomplish massive change by putting on an overlay, a shell, without building a foundation that will ensure the success of that overlay.
So my question to you would be simple.
Assumig you have the requisite skill to put yourself into a 'working hypnotic trance' (by working I mean where change work is possible), do you have the requisite skill to know what changes to make to support the outcome you hope to accomplish?
If not, what do you plan to do about it?
