Hi guys, new member here who is very pleased to say hi!
Some really interesting threads, and some really helpful comments from everyone. Its good to see such a positive forum.
I'm a newly practising hypnotherapist, went the Tad James route with which, as someone who has taught classes/seminars in various fields (not hypnosis!) since 1984, I was incredibly impressed with - I was amazed at how much information was installed in me so quickly!
And I also know that now my learning really starts...I've been reading sooo much and networking nicely on the 'therapy' side to ensure that the treatment I give is most appropriate to that individual...and I've had some really good feedback from my clients already...
So things were going good, learning, developing and improving, seeing some good change work from my clients, but yesterday was a bit of a setback...or rather...I got some 'feedback' with which to work...
I was working with my wife yesterday, which is never easy! I find it so much easier to hypnotise my clients than my wife!! Damn, I have to weave my way through the methods of induction to find what works...and then I only can manage to get her down to a mild hypnosis, no matter how much deepening and fractionisation I do...
I was testing a new weight loss script I've been working on, which I would tailor to each of my clients, I was just basically rehearsing it wanting to see the reaction, and I must have hit a nerve - she immediately stood up, said 'I can't do this' and the session was over!
Now, I know the script wasn't tailored to her directly, and I know the element of the script that brought her straight out, but the abreaction was sooo fast and so definate it gave me a shock! A few moments before she was giving me good feedback that she was in one of the deepest trances I had got her in...and then got her to think of one element and BAM! Snapped straight out of trance.
I haven't had any of these difficulties with any of my clients previously. I'm also a serial achiever, and work my ass of to be the best I can be through deliberate practise and learning. So when something like this happens, its something I definately want to learn from!
Any advice or comments to note for me? I'm obviously looking to learn and improve, so anything would be constructive! I'm also going to be chatting to my trainer about this, to see her view as well, but here there is a wealth of experience on which to draw from...so your help is appreciated!
Best regards, and Hi,
