I've recently become aware of NLP and seen all the claims about what wonderful things it can do. I was curious if this is a practical approach that would likely be successful in trying to convince my girlfriend to do things like fress sluttier and/or loosen up a bit sexualy. If so, what links would you suggest I start investigating with?

Depending on who you train with, NLP teaches flexibilty of behaviour to get your desired result, while if what you wanted was ethical, appropriate for the client etc.. So if its going to help her, to loosen up, then i mean, sure, you will have success. If it dosnt help her, then whats the point of trying to help her? (not suggesting anyones being selfish here in a relationship where non-selfishness is a key)
As things are in the world these days, people are usually trade wealth(knowledge) for stored wealth(money). The most konwledge you will find on your own, is through books (so you dont get peiced information resulting in holes). Then you should go seek a trainer while you have a little bit of background. Trainers are essential, because its about the experience. And hey, if youre not willing to pay to become a people helper, then your going to have to invent your own attitude and methodology, that of which creates a trail of techniques.
I suggest you will not find the answers your looking for on this board, specially with desires like yours. One point which might be usefull to you right now, is that you usually cant change the other person, you can only change the other person inside of you(your representation of them). Read my first paragraph again for best results.
Lots of people can be convinced to do some pretty amazing things, if approached correctly.
If a woman feels as if she is with someone whom she can trust implicitly, and who accepts her completely, she is then free to explore things she might never have imagined she could.
NLP can teach you how to make that approach.
BUT, if you are looking for mind control, or some variant, you are out of luck.
