View Full Version : Too many issues to address in one hypnosis script?

I am new to self-hypnosis. I tried it once before but threw in the towel after a week or two. I am ready to give it a more serious effort. I have multiple conditions I'd like to address. Hypnosis is one of the leading treatments for warts. I have been treating genital warts with medication, and it seems to be working. I'd still like to use hypnosis to make sure the warts do not return. I have a slightly receeded hairline. I am in my 20's and constantly worry if it has moved any further. I always tell myself that if my hairline stayed right at the level it is now, I'd be happy. I still get a little acne, which I'd like to eliminate. And I'd also like to get my pot smoking down to once a week, instead of once or twice a day.
Can I combine all these issues in to one long self hypnosis script?
From what I have read about self-hypnosis, I think I can go through the imagery of removing my skin and watch myself use a "magic" soap starting at the scalp which washes away DHT, the hairloss hormone. Then wash the face which will eliminate the acne bacteria from the inside. Then wash the HPV virus from the genitals.
As for pot smoking, I don't know how to incorporate that.
I appreciate any advice.
Hi, Tractor.
First, let me compliment you on your decision to take control of your life! Too often, people see a lot of things in front of them and do little or nothing to change for the better.
Can you combine them in one long self-hypnosis script? Sure! Why not?
Will it be effective? Well, you tried it before by yourself, without any training, without any experience, and gave up. Why do you assume you'll be any more effective now? While I admire your desire and willpower, your body/mind/spirit has already fallen into a "I'm a failure with this" mode. Respectfully, I think the answer may be elsewhere.
Tractor, hypnosis is not like an antibiotic where you take a pill and it cures everything. For example, everything you've described may only be symptoms of something deeper. If you remove the way your body responds to those inner causes, it will develop new responses. How do you know they will not be even more severe and problematic than the ones you are facing now?
You say you are treating genital warts with medication. I'm going to assume that you mean powerful medications that were prescribed to you. In other words, you went to an expert, trained in science, to determine what you need. I would respectfully suggest that you owe it to yourself to do no less with hypnosis. Find a local, professional, trained and experienced practitioner, and you will get the effective help you need.
Good luck!

I recommend one at a time for newbies doing self until the mind is used to your suggestion methods.
Afterwards/later it doesn't matter as much.
Personally, I do one at a time.
Hello Tractor,
You can try it, as has been suggested.
My opinion is that you should perhaps look at the link between all the conditions you mention. There may be no link, but then again there may.

Personally the way I see it is that when you have multiple issues that you want to work with, it's best to do them one at a time.
My reason for this is that be allowing the S.C. to concentrate on 1 issue, allows it to use it full power on that 1 issue, rather than dividing it's power trying to work on simultaneous issues at the same time.
Also working on 1 issue at a time means that the process of change should be quicker and the S.C. is not distracted by competing issues.
The reason why I think like this is because I was trying to become more fluent in speaking languages that I had learnt but hadn't used for many years using hypnosis as part of my training course. I had an abreaction and people & teachers told me that I was trying to do too many things at once.
So concentrate on the 1 issue, you'll see the change for that issue. Once you've seen the change for that issue, the process to change other issues will become quicker and you will have even better results.
Just my 2 pennies worth.

Thanks for the replies.
Is self hypnosis even possible just from reading about it? Should I save up some money to go to a hypnotherapist?
Self-hypnosis is absolutely possible from reading instructions in a book. Unfortunately, instructions from any single book may not work for any particular individual. You may end up paying far more in the price of books before you find a system that works for you than if you went to a hypnotherapist or took a class.
And then, when you reach a state of hypnosis, how will you know? You might think you're hypnotized when you are not and waste many, many hours thinking you're doing something successfully.
So yes, it is possible to learn self-hypnosis from a book. Will it work for you? I couldn't say. Would going to a hypnotist, telling him or her that you want to learn self-hypnosis, and having one session with him or her teach you self-hypnosis? Absolutely. Would taking a class in self-hypnosis teach you what you need to know? In my experience, and in most cases, yes.
Where the books really are great is presenting theories and showing people ways to give suggestions and work with a person (or yourself) while hypnotized.
That being said, will one class in self-hypnosis teach you everything in order to do self-hypnosis? That would depend upon what you want to accomplish. Relaxation? Change minor behaviors? Probably. Do serious hypnotherapeutic work? Maybe not. Sometimes, you may think that X is a problem when it is really Y. In self-hypnosis, all that work on X wont resolve anything. A professional hypnotherapist would quickly discover with you what Y is and help you change it to something you desire very quickly and effectively.
Think of it this way: self-hypnosis is like cleaning your room while having sessions with a professional, trained, and experienced hypnotherapist is like cleaning the house. Sometimes, problems with the house--maybe in a distant room--will effect your room. You can clean your room over and over but still have problems Only cleaning the house will really resolve everything.
Good luck!
