Hello.
I'm new to the world of hypnosis and have been wondering if I've been going into trance the "right" way.
Of course, I have read several different hypnotists say that there is no right or wrong way to go into a trance. One even said that it's a simple of just playing along -- that imagining you are in a hypnotic trance is as effective as actually going in to one.
What I'm wondering is: am I going into too deep of a trance?
First I lie down and achieve a relaxed state. I can hear the hypnotists commands, and can understand them with my conscious mind. I often begin seeing images, or sometimes just flickering patterns of light. At some point, I lose track of the hypnotists words and just become absorbed in whatever things are appearing in my imagination. I go in and out of this state, and when the CD is over, I often can't remember what the hypnotist has said. Just fragments here and there.
Is this a "bad" trance? Is it possible that I'm going to far into space to achieve any benefit from the hypnotist's suggestions?
I ask because one hypnotist has made some vague comments about this type of trance, implying that you must keep the hypnotists words in your awareness for them to have an effect.
Does this mean that the type of "amnesiac" trance that I am prone to is not conducive to hypnotic suggestion? or is the opposite true?
