Hey all, i am currently setting up my practice and would love any tips on networking, starting up and just any advice you can give me on the best way to get moving? I have some ideas and am by no mean at a dead end but additional ideas could only improve things.

So what have you done and/or know to do?

Or do you wish us to be redundant?

I have almost completed my web site suffucuently... i am going to go around and give 5 minute speeches on what i do and why it is benificial and then leave some business acrds for people who are interested. I am going to go to chiropractors, massage therpists etc etc and see about referrels and leave business cards etc etc. Im not struggling in this area but i assume that alot of you guys have done this and have already found out what seemed to work beter and worse and just want any advice i can get!

You had better not just show up at a MD's office expecting him to see you. First, you have to call his office and inquire if Dr.___ sees detail reps. If he does, ask what day and what time does he do this and ask kindly if it would be alright for you to come too (he may only see 3 per week). Also for MD referrals, be very much properly dressed as a lawyer going to court and have a nice leather briefcase and FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE BE ON TIME!!!! You may get stuck in a little room for a while but the Dr. will pass by and you can quickly explain what you do and why he should send you his problem patients. They love to get rid of ones they cannot cure and are constant complainers. Say you work on IBS, fibromalgia, elderly with OA or RA, insomniacs. These they will gladly give you if you have the qualifications to treat them. Then leave cards and brochures and thank the good Doctor very much in advance for his assistance. He will have a good impression of you and know that you are capable of helping alleviate some of his problems. Have a little speach memorized of maybe 4 minutes tops. Answer any and all questions completely and politely. I would also leave brochures on a table in the waiting room. Good luck!! I would, however, put this off until after the first of the year and then hit the streets running. People really aren't interested in Doctors, hypnosis, lawyers or anythng else during the holidays. Their minds are on parties, shopping, etc. Use the extra month to learn more! Practice in front of a mirror until you have it perfect. You need complete rapport. Can we ever learn enough?? Pood

Also, remember massage therapists are your competition. They are just now becoming mainstream while hypnosis is not. I would leave them alone. Pood

Leave them alone? Surely by doing that i am justifying the separation between the fields? I feel like by appraochig them and by intertwining the methods we can work towards mainstream. If people see 'them' sending clients to 'us' then there will be a much higher acceptance rate???
