Hi, I am new here and have read alot on the forums, but I cannot find my specific problem. I have researched and found two terms that may apply to me. Dyspareunia and Coitophobia. I was wondering how to tell which one I have, if it's possible to have both, and if hypnosis would work.
Any info would be greatly appreciated, as my relationship and my future are hanging by a thread because of my problem.

as I look into my crystal ball...
I see...
WOW!
If you want a diagnosis, you'd better go see a professional.
Real quick!

I can't tell you more from here.

If you do more researching you may well find that you could have the symptoms of almost all of them.

See your doctor

Hello Guest,

You would be wise to consult a psychologist and a medical practitioner to get the answer to your question. Several posters on here may be psychologists but would not attempt to diagnose problems over the net. A few are medical practitoners and the same applies.

Hypnosis works. Whether hypnotherapy would work for your particular problem depends on a vast array of factors, none of which anyone here is privy to.

I'm not brushing off your enquiry, just suggesting that you seek a professional, personal diagnosis for something as intimate as you suspect.

Thank you all for your input. Since I know my problem, maybe not the exact professional diagnosis, can hypnosis work? I know what results I want, and I have read on the internet that hypnosis can work for a variety of problems/issues, including sexual issues and phobias. I know you need someone who has experience or specializes with your field. Are there any questions I can answer that would help determine if this is right for my particular case? Please, let me know. I know this is a sensitive issue and I have a positive attitude that hypnosis can help me.

Dear needhelp,

"Dyspareunia is a symptom of multiple and varied disease states and may have multiple causes with components of both organic and psychiatric dysfunction."

Here is the problem.

One leads almost invarably to the other, for obvious reasons. And the dyspareunia can be both organic and psychiatric in origion.

Can hypnosis help?

Yes, but first you need to see a medical doctor, for a diagnosis, and to rule out, or treat, organic causes, then a referral to a hypnotherapast.

Thank you Skip. I have been to a medical doctor (not for this particular cause), and I am "fine". Basically throughout the exam even though she had not been looking for this problem, she would have found it if it was a medical problem.

Well I assume you mean something like a pelvic by an ob/gyn.

I dont mean to waste your money, but I dont think I would assume anything.

You could call your ob/gyn and ask SPECIFICALLY about this and see if they think they would have noticed. They might agree with you, or they might want to be sure.

Wouldnt it be worth it, to really know for sure, rather than rely on a belief that they 'should; have noticed, if anything was amiss?

It will also give you the ability, if it isnt organic, to get a referral, which will open the door for your insurance, to perhaps cover your treatment.

If it isnt organic, then hypnosis can help, and fast.

Now Im not one to condemn self diagnosis. I self diagnosed my kidney stone. Right side but too high for appendix, etc. But I did go to the urologist for confirmation. And I went to the radiologist for confirmation that the one was all I had.

Prudence.

Seems worth at least a phone call to me.
