Lurkers, of course, are welcome here. I'm wondering, though, if some
in our lurker community, might delurk for at least a moment and answer
two questions:

1. Why do you lurk here?

2. What has been holding you back from more active participation?

OMG!!! am I a lerker:eek:
Well I just started to learn hypnotherapy and I have only just started attending a training course, I find the content here interesting but am not that confident in posting about hypnosis as yet.

So too answer your questions

1/ I'M just looking and learning

2/ I dont know much about hypnosis as of this moment, and probaly will never stop learning :)

Yes you were a lurker.

Now you are not.

I just finished the best hypnotherapy School In the United States. Met the famed Gil Boyne and such. I just wanted to see if there were any good ideas flowing though this site and so here I am.

Welcome to current lurkers and ex-lurkers!

Hypnoticangel,

There are "good ideas" and people "flowing through this site;" glad you're
here.

It would be an understatement to say that you're happy with
the training you received. What school did you attend?
(Older folks here may be hearing the old Beach Boys song,
"Be true to your school," about now, but that's okay. :))

Should you meet up again with Gil Boyne, say hi from me.

Hi All,

Yup, I admit it...I am a lurker. I have been interested in hypnosis for several years now, lots of reading, taken classes, both weekend and a couple of different complete video certifications, and much lurking :D The one thing I am lacking is experience. I'm working on it though, and finding some success whoppieeeee!!

Hi everyone.
Well I may as well do an intro as I AM no longer a lurker :D

I AM studying hypnotherapy and advanced counseling in Cardiff UK, but I have only just started my 4-year course, 3 weeks in to be exact, And my first relaxation training is this month.
As of this moment I am just getting to grips with learning about the induction and personality types, so much info so little brain :)

I find it enjoyable and at 45 years old, it is a welcome change to do some thing I really want to do, rather than doing what I have to do.
I only wish I had done this 5 years ago .
Still better late than never.;)

Fans of the Seinfeld series might reply: "Not that there is anything
wrong with it." :) If this trend of lurkers "coming out of the closet" to
introduce themselves continues, we may have to start some kind of
support group for them. ;)

For those who want to say hi to Gil, he is a frequent visitor to hypnosisonline.com and seems to preffer it to this one as it is much quieter. On the other hand, this board has the preponderance of experienced practitioners.

1) I "lurk" here. Becaus ei have recently become ineterested/ started experimenting with hypnosis, and stumbled across this site while trying to learn more.

2) There seems to be a reluctance in this forum to give beginers any REAL help, so i dont see the point in adding teh the scree's and scree's of newbie threads here. Although I do have a few questions i may post up some tiem shortly.

Also i have noticed that my progress has slowed down quite a bit since i have started browsing the forums instead of reading books, and practicing / experimenting. So I dont want to let the forums distract me to much.

Might see yah soon then.... are there any perks to be gained from joining? any secret little forum sections or anything?

Hello son of reason.

Sorry you think there "seems to be a reluctance...to give beginers any REAL help." A

Actually, I would say that most of the people who are no longer beginners are glad to offer any help they can within the limitations of a forum such as this.

Sometimes, people ask questions that seem very simple. The question, "How does a nuclear power station work?" seems very simple, but to give a thorough answer that does not mislead would require a book. We can't write books, so we suggest sources.

Also, some of the people here are very busy and do not want to repeat themselves. Quite frankly, some beginners come here expecting to be given everything. Some of them are unwilling to do a simple internet search or walk to the library. As a result, some of the more experienced people are exasperated by those who are unwilling to do any sort of work to obtain information.

Part of this may be due to an aspect of the hypnotherapeutic paradigm that includes the concept that people wanting to change (i.e., in this case, learn something new) need to do some sort of work that helps to show their understanding of the value of what they are seeking.

Also, I would add that some people come here looking for personal therapy or instructions for personal therapy. It would be unethical and impractical for us to do so.

But it's easy to speak in generalities. What specifically are you, as a beginner, looking for?
