I'm looking for some phonetic ambiguites as I like to simply talk to people in work and see if they can fly under the radar.

1) Your unconscious
2) Be calm (become)
3) (This one from Bandler) The skys the limit, this guys the limit, disguise the limit - from this forum :D
4) Your mine (which is from creepy Ross Jeffries)
5) are you going to be calm aware of new and positive ideas down the road, orville you notice ideas springing forth from your mind like popcorn popping instantly and automatically?

I'm drawing a blank, as I know more...argh

Connie and Pood thanks for the last one. I really like that 'ideas popping'.

When I was playing with a voice to type software program, I found that it was a master at coming up with phonological ambiguities. :) I'd say one thing, and it would "hear" something else.

I know that there are intensive lists out there of "power words" which are phonological ambiguities--perhaps in this instance google is your friend.

It's soooo much fun to just relax and let them come to "ewe". Just even watching a show on TV can give you some. They just seem to "pop" in when you "here" them.

Houston did a great one you missed --

Have fun. They are fun!

Even our lovely Merlin is one -- Myrhleine(sp?) Merlin

Pure genius!!! Going to see if I can find some software on linux to do this with. Connie I searched for power words, not really sure how to narrow the search down...care to help and or explain?

I did a search under "phonological ambiguities" yesterday and found several lists online, including ones for sale--"200 power words." You don't need to buy anything, if you're someone who enjoys puns and thinking about language, these come naturally to mind. :)

and while reading this I finally caught the 'as you look at your WATCH how easily your'

Not really understanding the 'be sure and listen' one though.

MD or is it MD,

As my Grampa Vetter said, "Give me ambiguity or give me something else." or as Emo Philips once said when asked
Person a) is this seat saved...
Phillips) Well not in the sense that an inanimate object can have an ethereal soul...
Person a) no I mean is anyone sitting there
Phillips) Ambiguity the devil's hand ball

And I don't kNOw if you can get this 'point to the wall' as it only begins to 'scratch the surface' of things because only you 'noses', really does anyone, on the other side is your answer.

To Your Best,
Doc Houston

Have you ever heard Bandler get going on these. Skip gave you a very short Bandler type.

Just sit back and relax. They come to YOU when you are NOT looking for them. You have a mind, use it!

May be others in Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of MHE, MD, Vol. I.
Don't remember for sure but on any note, good reading for you. ;)

hehe, just came from the beach here in Kauai and something just 'popped' in my head.

You know sometimes life's a beach. At times your unconscious and conscious may fight against each other and have a sand off to end all fights, eventually brushing each other away or even possibly throwing the towel in and becoming the best of friends. After all you are the shining sun of your parents.

Habit... like your conscious mind... hand your unconscious... now kneading and sharing... in-greed- iently searching... for that special taste... that will make the pun rise above its cup like the flower-breads dough'th rise...

I'm trying to think of a way to use "per assistance" (persistence) in a sentence. Any suggestions?

When I used to go to my Grandma's asking for 50p to buy some sweets she would exclaim "young man I don't have my purse!" and I would say "but grandma it's right there in front of you!".

To which she would reply "it's not my purse it's Stans!"

She always blamed my grampa!!!

Clever...maybe I should have been more clear. I've mentioned in another thread how I am working on a dual induction to help people "lock" in hypnotic language patterns. I want to kind of seed the idea for persistence, so something along the lines of:

and a person may find that they can do more with per assistance from their unconscious, etc...etc...

any other idears?

in English, it is "with" assistance. Have you ever "per" "with'd" anything? The words do not fit together in any sense. Expand your vocabulary and perhaps do as Connie suggested and use Google.

Forget about Phonetic ambiguities for a while and ask yourself how many other ways are available to me to apply the concept of 'persistence' without explicitly saying it...

There's a seed to sow...

I have to admit that I still don't understand the entire purpose of this thread. It's sort of like asking how to use a laser so you can remove a brain tumor before learning things like basic medicine and how to hold a scalpel.

IMO there is NO necessity to use any particular type of induction if you're not trained in it. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it would be unethical to attempt to teach someone this information without making sure that the person is fully trained in everything needed to use the technique safely (if not effectively).

The development and use of phonetic ambiguities is something that is taught and trained during NLP training. Therefore, I would strongly suggest that MD quit pretending like he knows what this is all about and actually LEARN the technique in a training. There is FAR more to the use of phonetic ambiguities (AKA "quantum linguistics") than simple word play.

If you're looking to play with words, study tongue twisters and limericks.

master_debator has taken a training of sorts in NLP. It was just from someone that believes that most all of NLP does not work and I "think" you know who that person is Don. Hopefully, some day he will be able to attend a "real" training. How much more fun to elicit states than to play a little with The Milton Model.

Does one not have to become a Trainer or Instructor to teach NLP or hypnosis? If not, why did I spend all that money.

Hey m_d, read Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson, MD, Vol. I and II by Bandler and find out about the other cool ambiguities. Some of the word ones are restricted to the country in which one lives as people in the UK have a totally different way of pronouncing a certain word than one would in the USA.

They are relatively cheap used on Amazon or equiv.

Yeah I got the 3dmind dvds. While I like the 'model' of the 3dmind, the presenters suck a%^. The biggest change I got from it was being sober from alcohol for like 7 months. I guess I wasn't per assistant (for you skip) enough to keep using it.

And about Phil Farber, that fell through, as I couldn't get anyone to sign up for the training. Last night I talked to someone that does training in hypnosis (basic/advanced), timeline work, and I believe in NLP. The training is kind of expensive, but he seems to be a good trainer. I'll have to look into it further.

Poodle, when I lived in Detroit we had the MOST AMAZING used book store called John King. It has 4 (maybe 5) floors. In the psychology section I found a TON of the original NLP books for cheap! I got Tranceformations, Reframing, Patterns 1 and 2, Frogs into Princes, etc..etc.. When I moved to Kauai my moms friend was supposed to ship all of my books to me. What did I get when she sent a box?

I'M OK, YOU'RE OK

WTF, I am NOT ok!!!

Either way I am fine with not having those books now, as its kind of hard to get the 'full' experience of nlp through books. It just stinks that I got all of those books and more nlp books (Beliefs by Dilts) for less than like 70 bucks :( :(

About how many people live on the island where you live? You are the ONLY person on that whole island that is interested in these subjects? How much would it cost for a person to come from another island (island hopping) for the training? As much as going to CA or beyond?

Surely where there is one mind, more can be found. Wendi Friesen had some sort of a training retreat in Hawaii together with watching the dolphins and it sold out pretty quickly. These were people coming over from this side even with the miserable economy that had been going on. Could it possibly be in the marketing?

Believe it or not but some people actually start saving money for their trainings far in advance so it makes little difference to them where the training is they want to attend. Others prefer to attend at a resort styled place and if Hawaii doesn't qualify on that, I don't know what would. Other people prefer to learn where they live and that is why there are residence trainings. Many, many people come from far away countries like Japan, Finland, Central Europe, South America, etc., etc., etc.

So you are in Hawaii and Matt James isnt the first to come to mind.

What's up with that?

And why did you give up on getting your books? They are more valuable than you realize (irrespective of their cost) and while you are right picking up NLP from them is spotty, after training you will be able to recognize and utilize the gold nuggets in them.

up to $150, DEPENDING ON CONDITION. What is preventing you from starting again and perhaps this time you will keep that which is yours with you. This is an excellent time to buy as many people are really hurting and selling things CHEAP. eBay is begging people to sell and buyers get points.

You lost some books. They can be replaced. What I lost could never be replaced. Maybe this time you will read your books. Maybe this time you will get trainings.

It's not her fault. You left them. She did not beg you to please leave your books so she could have the pleasure of mailing them to you a year or two later half way around the world. She is not from "our" world. They are just paperback books to her. You can start out buying one per month. That should be reasonable enough even in Hawaii.
