I created this skit as a convincer which uses everyone's blindspot.

Basically what you do, is you take a pencil and hold the eraser side infront of their eye about 1.5 feet away. There other eye should be closed. Tell the subject to stare at something else, just not the pencil (should be in peripheral vision. - say the lampshade or something). Then state, "As I move the pencil closer to you, at one point it will suddenly vanish. Tell me the moment it disappears". Bring the pencil closer to the subject's eye until they say its gone. When they do, hold it still and say "This is a negative hallucination. This is a sign that you are deep in trance"

This is how it works:

How will this convince them they are in a trance? You know more than likely the person would just move their eye over to make sure it was still there. I highly doubt this would do anything...oh wait...it would do one thing, it would hurt your credibility, as they wouldn't be convinced that you could really hypnotize them.

You could use this not as a convincer, but as a "magic moment." Draw a link between this physiological effect and the power of hypnosis. You could say something along the lines of: hypnosis finds your mental or psychological blind spots in the same way that you can find your visual one.

I think rather than a convincer during hypnosis it might make a good test before induction along the lines of the magnetic finger tips which is also physiological. The difference would be that you with the finger tips the supposed cause of the phenomenon is obvious--hypnosis. Here, you would really have to set it up, perhaps like this:

I want to do a(nother) test to see how easily YOU'LL BE ABLE TO EASILY GO INTO A DEEP HYPNOTIC TRANCE. I'd like you to close your left eye. THAT'S RIGHT. Now, look at this pencil, and without turning your head, stare at something to the side like that lamp. YES. THAT'S RIGHT. Now, if YOU'LL EASILY GO INTO A DEEP HYPNOTIC TRANCE, in a moment you my discover, to your amusement, that THE PENCIL WILL DISAPPEAR. Let me know when that happens by saying, "NOW."

[If Client says, "now."] You can't see it? That's excellent. Open both your eyes and relax. That's what we call a "negative hallucination." That's when you don't see something is even though it's really there. Like hypnosis, its a common phenomena, sort of like when you can't find your keys even though they're sitting on the table. For us it means YOU'LL BE ABLE TO EASILY DRIFT INTO A DEEP, PLEASANT, AND WONDERFUL STATE OF HYPNOSIS.

[If Client doesn't say, "now."] You still see it? That's excellent. Open both your eyes and relax. Because you kept seeing the pencil it shows that you have a very strong will, one of the strongest wills in a client I've ever experienced. For us it means that if you want it, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO EASILY DRIFT INTO A DEEP, PLEASANT, AND WONDERFUL STATE OF HYPNOSIS.

Of course, you'll want to stress the phrases in all caps.
