Hi,
this is my first post in this forum so i would like to introduce myself first.
my name is peter and i come from austria. i am 18 years old and im attending a kind of technical college in the last year. nlp is a relative new topic in my live. i just have visited a compact nlp couse. this woke interest in me, so im currently reading some books about nlp.
so, now back to topic:
first of all i want to say that im good at learning. but maybe it could be better. i hate to forget things i learned. if u knew some techniques that ease learning i would be pleased if u tell me.
nice evening
peter
p.s.: sry for my bad english :(

Peter - hello and welcome!!
What would you like to be better at learning??
While there are some general strategies for learning .... we can perhaps give you a more valuable answer if we know what, exactly, you want to be a better learner of.
For instance, Photoreading - which is reading in a manner where you just by-pass the conscious mind while reading - dump everything into your unconscious mind...then later pull out what you read into concsious awareness.
This is quite different from learning to be a good speller - where you essentially learn to use images of words you've seen as the basis for spelling rather than sounding the words out.
Again - quite different from the natural athlete strategy for learning sports skills, and new behaviors.

good morning,
thank you for your answer!
at school i have to learn a lot of theory. sometimes a teacher gives us an ebook oder just copies with about 100 to 300 pages.
on the other hand side there are short but very comlicate formulas to learn.
and last the economics subject alone, cause its very important.
there are a lot of tables, facts, and more tables i have to learn.
all in all i have to memorise and understand all these scriptums.
understanding is easy, but memorising takes so much time and it gets lost after after some months :(
thanks in advance

As Peter Im 18 years old. And I would like to accellerate my learning to. It especially sounds interesting with photoreading? What does it mean exactly? Becoming able to read 1000 of sides in just a couple of minutes?

Photoreading is a method of reading at speeds of 1 page per second or more.
sort of the next evolution beyond speed reading.

Learning strategies are fun!
A few general ideas:
1) have an outcome or goal for how you would like to use what you are studying. Not just to pass a test, but in the real world. Ask, "how can I use this?" and then imagine yourself using it.
2) there are techniques such as superlearning of relaxing while listening to a tape...if done properly can increase learning dramatically.
3) get an anchor for learning and motivation..
4) do you have any distracting mental dialogue while learning? learn to get shut it off or replace it with questions about what you are learning.
5) use "triple description" in other take on the perspective of being what you are studying, of watching yourself study from various perspectives around you, from the author of the book, of people you will interact with.
6) if the material seems to not make sense, or is fuzzy at all...be sure that you know the meanings of all the words used.
7) mind- mapping by tony buzan
8) genius states - see either the book turtles all the way down by john grinder...although it might be a tough read while not a native english speaker. Michael hall also has a way to do it on his web site. ....basically get into a state of total focus so much so that you lose track of all but what you are studying.
9) ideally model someone who is already excellent at what you want to study...how do they think about it.
10) maintain curiousity
11) check to see if you have any limiting beliefs, or negative states associated to learning.
12) overlearn
13) repitition is the source of mastery
14) review your material frequently
15) act as if you are a great learner
16) put what you are learning in your submodalities of understanding
17) ask lots of questions
18) enter into "whole brain states" applied kinesiology and it's cousins have methods for doing this.
19) keep a high level of motivation to learn
20) get some rest
21) stay hydrated...in other words drink enough water...whiich is in general 2 liters or more each day.
22) use your time well

thanks again :)
i have got some questions about what you have written.
to 7: what is mind mapping?!
to 8: how can i learn to get into such a state of concentration?
and .. is everyone able to learn photoreading, such as people who dont know anything about nlp? and is there a good description of it?

Peter,
mind mapping is a way of putting information down onto a page. The advantage is that it compliments the way that the mind works by connecting different ideas to each other (usually beginning with a central idea which is put in the middle of the page). A mind map looks like a spider web.
A good mind map will have pictures as well as key words so that the process calls both sides of your mind (creative and logical). This keeps your mind interested as well.
I use them when im learning new things. I find they're fun to do and i learn much much faster than when i write linear notes.
heres a pic of a good one:

But are you then able to remember what you read? And how do you learn to do so?

to be able to use photoreading must be awesome! pls tell me how i can learn it. step by step. it doesnt matter how long it takes. im just 18 years old, .., i can use this technique my whole life
Hi Peter,
The books and techniques that are mentioned here are available in german, too.
Turtles all the way down is called "Der Reigen der Dämonen" (John Grinder, Judith DeLozier")
PhotoReading (Paul Scheele) has the same title in German. There is also a video course available.
The creator of the MindMap Model is Tony Buzan, his books are translated in german, too. (z.B. Moderne Verlagsgesellschaft Mvg) or a book by Maria Beyer called BrainLand.
You can order them @ www.junfermann.de
By the way Junfermann is the publisher of most of the NLP books that are available in german, and they have Hypnosis and Leraning Strategies, too.
Viel Spaß beim Stöbern auf deren Webseite.
All the Best,
Eric

thank you eric!
but there are some doubts about photoreading in me. this seems to be far too ingenius to be true. reading 1 page per second is soo awesome. do u handle and use this method? does it really work?
When I took the Evelyn Wood speed reading class decades ago, we often got up to speeds of more than a page a second. How is photoreading better?
Yes photoreading works and works very well. Conside this, if all it did was to double, or triple, your reading speed with comprehension, whouldnt that alone be worth it?
Steve (who occasionally posts here) and his partner Annie, have developed their own form of hypnotically assisted photo reading that they say has some pretty phenomenal results. I dont have personal experience with it, but I respect Steve. You might check out his web site, by looking up his name in the members list, and write him for further information.

reading faster
most people are taught to read one letter at a time
sound out each word
then when reading they read to themselves still sounding out each word
reading to yourself is called selftalk
a simple method of reading faster is to learn to eliminate the self talk
you can double or triple reading speed by simply not reading to yourself
dont make the sounds in your head
hypereading is based on the idea that we can identify a tree without
examining it one leaf at a time
we can instead look at the tree as a whole
for hypereading i first learned photoreading
its a gread method but i saw opportunity for significant improvements
photoreading uses hypnosis a very light trance with initial suggestions
i use a deeper but more easily repeatable trance which doesnt require
thinking about the trance
then i took some skills i learned from DHE and added that
finally i took some training for remote viewing
i learned how the conscious can interfere with subconscious efficiency
so i added some of that knowledge to the mix
finally i learned about recall of memories being state dependant
so i arranged in the training for an anchoring of the state for easy recall
the drawback is that this method currently requires in-person training
hope this helps

What is remote view?

Daniel,
Remote Viewing, RV, is a method of our mind perceiving information beyond the abilities of our five senses (hearing, taste, touch, smell, seeing).
Remote Viewing is not restricted by space or even by time.
A person can Remote View any past event as easily as any event today, anywhere. (anywhere is assumed. There has not been a whole lot of RV testing beyond the solar system).

Spead reading is not overly difficult. I have done it all my life naturally, I have often read a 1000 page book in a day. However it is not quite the answer to all life's problems, as I have seen people thinking. It does save some time, but it makes little difference. Also I think you will find that you read quite a number of books as a result, so the difference is minimal.

Does anyone know of Photoreading / Hyperreading courses which can be purchased online and downloaded as mp3 files ?
I can't order these cd's here in India to avoid the risk of Customs.. where I might have to pay extra.
Thanks

I have a friend who is quite good (according to him) at speed reading. The funny thing is, when it came to reading a rather long contract that he was asked to sign he sat and patiently read it word for word.
Thought I'd just share that.
DS
So would/do I.
Thats because you want to cognitavely understand the material before you sign. Speed reading gets the material in your head, without cognitavely understanding it.
Also when I read for enjoyment, I do not speed read. But my normal reading is much faster than average too, because of speed reading.

I don't get it. Is RV similary to ESP?

Here is an article I recently wrote on Memory, might be of interest...
When I was 12, my mother gave me a beach towel the wrestler "Hulk Hogan" printed on it. To make matters worse, she had my name embroidered on the wrestler's shorts…
Whilst this ensured that I always hated going to the beach, or the swimming pool, it did mean that no one who ever met me on the beach forgot my name!!!
When you come on one of my seminars, one of the first things that most people comment on is my ability to remember names and faces.
Remember ! Addressing someone by their name creates the impression that you value them and their business. It helps to build good relationships and encourages future custom.
The system like so many others in NLP, is based on pictures. Study the persons face carefully. Try to identify the most outstanding features or features.
What you've done this imagine a caricature of the face with particular features accentuated. Perhaps a person has large blue eyes, so you imagine them with huge bright blue shining eyes like the lights on a police car.
Then take their name, form it into a picture and add this to the caricature of the face to make a single combined image in your mind. For example if their name is James Bell -make James' nose bigger and put a large ringing bell on his head!!
This means that the next time you see the face you will trigger the image and hence the name.
Some names have natural means that all pictures such as
Hunter, Walker, Branch, East, Cook, Ball, Church, Wood, Park, Smith
Others may need some more imagination to make their names into picture.
Gleeson, may become a fat smiling man [glee] tickling his son
Fung may become a man with a mushroom [fungi] growing out of his head!
You can also use famous people with the same name for example Hogan [associate the wrestler Hulk Hogan throwing me in the air] or Jackson [associate Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp fiction] etc.
[B]Remembering First Names
So far we have only considers surnames. If you want to remember first names as well you can follow exactly the same process, just adding two pictures to the caricature of the face, one of the first name and one for the surname. Again, some names are easier than others.
Lilly,Rose. Poppy and Holly [plants]. Robin and Martin Bill [an invoice] Jack [to lift up a car], Mike, a microphone etc.
Your associations don’t have to be exact – just close enough to trigger the right name: Julie (jewelry) Bridgit (a bridge), Lucy (a loo seat) Robert ( a robber).
[B]Remembering Lists, Facts, Presentations
Remembering names is one thing, however what about presentations?
Remember in order to be persuasive you need to sound credible, you sound credible when you don’t need to look at your slides!
Here is an easy technique that helps you to remember anything.
The body has a number of parts in set locations that can act as places [or hooks] to hang objects in your imagination including your:
Head
Nose
Neck
Shoulders
Chest
Hands
Stomach
Hips
Knees
FeetSo let's say I was presenting to you on Cialdini's Laws of Persuasion:
1. On my head I might have 2 tiny men shaking hands [Liking]
2. On my nose I have my old schoolteacher shouting at me [Authority]
3. On my neck I see a man clutching his throat saying "water… water" [Scarcity]
4. On my shoulders I see a little man blowing a kiss to a woman my other shoulder [Reciprocity]
5. On my chest I see a tiny group of judges in the jury [Consensus]
6. On my hands I see a wedding ring [Commitment]
The key to remembering names, facts, etc. is to:
Make the memory multisensory, sound, smells, colors etc.
Exaggerate the image; make the face silly etc.
Movement - give your memories movement, the more action involved, the more you will remember.
Make them funny, they'll be easier to remember and you'll enjoy them more!
And of course repetition, the more you practice something that better you'll get at it!Now there is only one thing more I want you to remember…

RV testing is going on right now at Stanford University in California. I believe last month they were looking for participants.
The easy way to do this is to find a hypnotist to put you in trance and give you Memory: Recall at Will. First you need to be put into a protective shield (I use a blue bubble as blue is a good color for the aura) in trance to neutralize the I can't's. Remove any block to your memory, any time you feel a block coming back, take a deep breath.
A few lines of script
ending with: All information is recorded in your subconscious mind and you now have the ability to retrieve that information at will. It is and has always been and will always be there for your easy access.
EMERGE
This should enable to you visually recall the tables in the books as they were written -- photographic memory. As I understood your problem, you didn't mind reading the material, it was only trying to retain all that you read that was the problem. This should not cost a great deal as it can be a quick induction and obviously not much script so you will be in and out.
