This website appears to contradict many things that hypnotherapists are saying.

Why? this is a public forum - isn't it?
There are only two true emotions Love and Fear.
Are you afraid of this posting and link?

Or is the truth distorted?

Moderators note: I altered the url link because it leads directly to a commercial site. If the poster would like to post, and ask about specific issues, pro or con, regarding hypnosis that would be welcome. If the poster had taken the trouble to read some of the forum, they would know that controversial issues are discussed here all the time. General questions such as above simply arent productive. And no this isnt a public forum. It is privately owned, and is specifically intended to be both non commercial and for the promotion of the understanding of hypnosis. And yes, truth is always distorted.

Hypnosis is not dangerous, usually. It can be dangerous, but one who can get you to a level where it has the potential of being dangerous is experienced enough to stop any potential danger. You definately cannot come to any danger from an experienced hypnotherapist, as he knows how to avoid any problems. A stage hypnotist doesn't take you in so far, and is also experieced, so there is no real danger there. If you PMed me the address of this site I would be glad to take a look....

Ah! An appeal to reason, and nicely provocative too! How nice, but a bit too confrontational to ring true. Overcooked, if you ask me as an independent observer... :D I liked the use of centre justification though.

Who is telling the truth?

This is a bit too obvious. You see, you've conveniently reduced the argument via a logical fallacy called the False Dilemma to a simple binary choice. Further, you're slyly setting up an embraced choice too, so that people can only see your option as the real one, whereas in fact there are many.

Read the forum guidelines. Trying to frighten people for your own personal reasons and in doing so implying some hidden conspiracy is cheap and plays to False Certainty (because you've set up the presumption of a cause-effect chain, it must be true). What the actual reasons you have for posting this are entirely your own business...

Ah, the appeal to democracy! This is a nice touch, but a little lumpen in it's execution, if I may comment upon it. If it were a true appeal and not simply your agenda playing on a well-known logical fallacy, you'd get further with it, but it's just too obvious as written.

No, there are six basic, indivisble emotions, as even someone with a passing knowledge of what you're trying to do here would tell you. Stop relying on assumed ignorance to spread whatever it is you're fearful of. Asking strangers to make the creative reduction that there are only two is, frankly, insulting to everyone reading you.

On the face of it, this is a truly interesting logical proposition to consider. Notice how we're given an occluded choice here, though. The answer must be "no", because to answer truthfully, we must follow a link. How perfect!

Or is the truth distorted?

If you say so :D. Others may choose to find out for themselves and come to pity your outburst in time. But that's for them to decide, not for you to dictate.

Overall, I'd give this 6/10. Just above average, but not that much.

A swift perusal of Usenet migh give more information...

If you check other so called "hypnosis boards" you will see all sorts of advertising, and some not even related to hypnosis. You will also notice that they are poorly attended, unlike this one. If the poster wants free advertising, they should start their own web page, not expect to profit from the fact that many come here just because it it advertisment free and not the place for free advertising......

Since what-was-his-name is posting here once more, I conclude that he ran out of money. Maybe his book isn't selling too well...?
